My car is a 2021 BMW X3, has traveled 30,440 kilometers, a few days ago I went to the 4S shop to replace the oil and filter for free (10 small maintenance in five years when replaced), the air filter and air conditioning filter also need to be replaced, the replacement cost in the store is high, I plan to change it myself, the air filter and air conditioning filter are purchased online, the air filter is free to install, and the air conditioning filter is not free to install.
First of all, let's introduce the air conditioner filter replacement tool, the metal pry plate and the T20 model Torx screw wrench.
The air conditioning filter is located under the passenger glove box, and the foot pad is taken out first, so that it is more convenient to remove and install the guard plate.
Leaning down, you can see the plastic wrenches on the left and right sides of the guard, the wrench is horizontal, twist it to the right side (clockwise), and the guard plate opens.

Half of the body side lying co-pilot, you can see that there is a foot socket light wiring harness in the innermost part of the guard plate, you need to remove it, first pull out the red plug, and then use the pry board to pry off the bolts that fix the wiring harness, if there is no pry board, you can use needle-nose pliers instead.
After the guard plate is taken off, you can see the innermost air conditioner filter cover, there are screws on the left and right sides of the cover, and unscrew it with a T20 model plum wrench.
After the screws are unscrewed, there are buckles on the sides of both sides, which can be opened by pressing down with your fingers.
After the air conditioner filter is taken out, the front is gray, and there is activated carbon inside, and the color is similar to dust, and there is no dirt to be seen.
If you look at the reverse side, you can see the dirt, and the crevices are mixed with dust and catkins. The replaced air conditioning filter, used for 10,000 kilometers, is already very dirty, if there is a condition, it is recommended to replace it once in 5,000 kilometers, which is beneficial to our respiratory system.
Install the new air conditioner filter, the oblique notch is on the left side, which is the correct installation direction, after pushing it in, the cover is gently pressed by hand, and the buckle is snapped.
Then according to the order, screw it on, plug in the wiring harness of the foot socket light, press the cover plate, and finally put the foot pad back in place, and replace the air conditioner filter element is completed.
The whole replacement process takes about ten minutes, there is no technical difficulty, and it is relatively simple. Do-it-yourself, save money, have fun, and have a little sense of accomplishment. Riders with a little hands-on ability can also experience it themselves.
