April 13, 2024 is the Thai New Year Songkran Festival, and this year's Songkran Festival Thailand will usher in a 5-day holiday, that is, April 12-16. Every year during Songkran Festival, the most lively event is the Songkran Fight, and this year is no exception. Water splashing carnivals are held in all provinces of Thailand, and the most popular spots in the capital Bangkok are Silom Road and Khao San Road.
With Songkran Festival approaching, water splashing equipment, including water guns, has been selling well in recent days. From April 9 to 10, Thai reporters visited the Sam Ping Street Market in Bangkok and found that many Thai people and tourists flocked to the market to buy water guns in advance to prepare for Songkran. The reporter found that various shops in the market sell different types of water guns such as ordinary water guns and electric repeating water guns, and the prices range from tens to hundreds of baht.
According to the vendors in the market, the sales of water-splashing guns have increased by 100% this year, with prices ranging from 150 to 800 baht, with an average of about 200-300 pieces sold per day, and up to 1,000 pieces, and the wholesale price of water guns has increased by about 10% compared with last year.
In addition, the "Flower Sunglasses" matched with the water gun are also popular with female customers this year, with an average of at least 100 pairs sold per day, and a maximum of more than 600 pairs, with a sales increase of 60-70%.
At the same time, the reporter visited the flower clothes shop and found that the flower clothes on the market this year began to sell well in early April, and the sales volume reached a higher level near the Songkran Festival. In previous years, the price was 100 baht per piece, but this year the price was raised to 120 baht, and the preferential price for 2 pieces or more was 100 baht per piece. According to the vendors, in addition to the public and tourists, major government departments are also the main customer groups, and they will buy 30-40 pieces each time, and the price will be more favorable.
It is initially expected that this year's Songkran water guns, flower clothes and other equipment and apparel will continue to sell well until April 15, and sales will decline after the Songkran Festival ends.
