The FIM WorldSBK Superbike World Championship, which was founded in 1988 (then known as WSB/World Superbike), is at the heart of the WGP/MotoGP World Championship, which is the base car of all participating cars, which must be from a production vehicle that can be licensed, not a race-specific model.

All manufacturers are required to submit an application for certification to the FIM in order to produce their own vehicles for use in any competition level of WorldSBK. In the latest version of the FIM Homologation Regulations for Motorcycle 2024, released on March 12 this year, there is an important change: at the WorldSSP level, in addition to the Supersport Next Generation, which will be implemented in 2022, the new version also adds Supersport Twin-Cylinder Next Generation. The new changes mean that in the future, there will be more production models that can be used in the WorldSSP class, which originally only had in-line four-cylinder 600, three-cylinder 675/765, and two-cylinder 750/850, such as the Suzuki GSX-8R, KTM 890 platform, etc.
