China's comparisons with the United States often give us the illusion that the United States is in decline. But this is not entirely true. Survivorship bias tells us that seeing only the part that survives is not representative of the whole. America's strength remains evident in many areas. The United States seized world hegemony after World War II and successfully contained several competitors, such as Germany, Great Britain, and the Soviet Union. But in the face of China, a particular adversary, America's traditional tactics no longer seem to be working. The United States has successfully controlled Germany, Britain, Japan and other countries, but it faces different challenges against China. China has a strong national will and a persistent pursuit of great rejuvenation, which the United States cannot underestimate. The speed at which China is developing worries the United States, but the United States does not really understand China's history, culture, and national sentiments. The Chinese people's great power sentiment has a long history, not on a whim, but a national belief passed down from generation to generation. The United States seems to be somewhat at a loss when it comes to dealing with China, so we will feel the chaos and weakness of American politics. But in reality, the United States still leads the world in power and influence. So, the answer to the question of whether the United States is in decline is not so simple. We need to look at the development of the United States from a more objective perspective, rather than one-sidedly measuring it by the speed of China's development. At the same time, we should also realize that the competition between China and the United States is a long-term marathon, with no end in sight, only a path forward.
