"Catching up and surpassing" is taken from the article "We must have the courage and courage to catch up with and surpass our predecessors". The article was conceived in 1978, 30 years ago. The first 700-word draft was written on November 5, 1980. The second draft was increased to 1,400 words and was written on December 2 of the same year, and the third draft was increased to 3,000 words and written on January 10, 1981. The more the content is written, the main thing is to add arguments and arguments.
The essence of the article is: "The contribution to mankind should catch up with and surpass the predecessors"; from "determined to be a contemporary Lu Xun" to "determined to catch up with and surpass Lu Xun".

"Duchao" is taken from "attacking alone, being unique, ahead of people, surpassing Lu Xun". Because I want to change the name of a battle. Conceived in 1978, it was named on January 28, 1981. It took two years from the draft to the naming. In his diary and notes, he detailed the reasons for the name change in thousands of words.

Changing the name of a battle after holding the pen is one of the things I always think about. The name chosen should include one's own temperament, lessons learned, combat history, lofty ideals, and goals to be pursued. Not only did he rack his brains to think about multiple names, but he also made Wenyou and relatives and friends take a lot of trouble to help them determine. In the end, among the 16 names proposed, "Duchao" was finally selected.
I went to carve the square and flat seals of "Zhou Duchao" (see picture). The owner of the carving shop said that he had never carved this single word, and only knew that Chen Duxiu used this single word.
My intention in using this new name spreads among my family, friends, and colleagues. One stone stirs up a thousand waves: the unique ones "cover the widows"; the unit leaders angrily denounce, "You go beyond the sky!" ; the wise men laughed off with their big teeth, "the sky is blowing overcast, and the building is blowing down!" "You are the only one who does it, and you are copying books and newspapers!" and neurotics, madmen, and madmen are overwhelming......
I call myself a madman, and around New Year's Day in 1982, I wrote an autobiographical novel "The Biography of a Madman" of 50,000 words. The manuscript was sent to many magazines and publishing houses in Zhengzhou and Beijing. If the magazine is too long and the publishing house is too short, they will be rejected in person.
I was a commercial worker at the time. Trying to switch to the cultural system to no avail. The leaders of the unit made it difficult and suppressed, and were forced to resign from the accounting position of the coal yard and go home to study and write full-time. I have been a "black man" for two years without a salary of 1 cent and a pound of grain. For this reason, he wrote an autobiographical novel of more than 300,000 words, "The Life of a "Negro" After Choosing to Hold the Pen". This is the second of five autobiographical novels written on the top five tribulations of his retirement.
Today's emotion: If I arrive today, I will meet Lu Xun: "Teacher, I chose to hold the pen 47 years ago, because I admired you the most, so I vowed to catch up with you." At the age of 55, you died young, tired, and fighting. I am 76 years old and you are 21 years old; you have left us 16 volumes of eloquent writings, and I have written more than twice as many diaries, letters, essays, and books as you do; if the biography of the founding leader of the People's Republic of China of more than 700,000 words is put on the bookshelf, there will be hundreds of millions of people who resonate and contend, and the enemy will surpass you; but the contribution to mankind is still 108,000 miles away. Because my current mentality and fitness feel that I am only 50 years old, I still have decades of hard work. ”
If I put on the bookshelf on the mainland and step into the ranks of the Communist Youth League, I can only be qualified to stand in the ranks of adults; when I can put dozens of books on the shelves in my lifetime and be able to stand in the ranks of the young pioneers, whether I can stand in the ranks of masters and whether my contribution to mankind surpasses yours will be judged by future generations. Of course, there are two factions of these descendants: one is the resonator, especially the confidant, who will praise me as "the pride of the Chinese" and will give me a proper conclusion; and the other is the duplicity of those whom I and I hate the most, as you say, "Don't learn from those who just step out of their private nest and say that China's morality is the first." Ha! These thieves will definitely conclude to me, "Lu Xun dumped you hundreds of streets!" and "You are the scum of China." I have set such thieves on the pillar of shame in history, and they will do the same to me.
I am willing to bow down to my works, especially novels, which have won the Lu Prize, the Mao Prize, the Nobel Prize, and other great awards, but the more than 700,000-word biographies of the founding leaders I have written are beyond their reach!
Even if my contribution to mankind has not surpassed that of my teacher, I have done my best!

The Duchao Literature Club was established. In April 2023, I subscribed to the magazine "Young Writers", published articles, and served as a director of the Gulangyu branch of the society.
On March 9 this year, Chen Danxiang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Society, recommended me to establish a literary club and named myself a literary club. I thought about a few company names, and finally ingeniously named the Duchao Literature Club that I liked.
Bole Chen Danxiang read my self-description of the meaning of naming Duchao and said: Duchao can be, there is a certain meaning. She immediately reported it to the head office. The Organizing Department of the Headquarters quickly held a meeting to study and approve and issued a notice, appointing me as the president of the Duchao Literature Society, and the director of the development department.
Literary friends and resonators listened to my brief description of the formation of the Duchao Literature Society, and admired: The "Duchao" 47 years ago came in handy again!
From Bole recommending me to set up a literary club, to filling out the form, to reporting to the head office, to approving to appointing, to seeing the letter of appointment, it was done within 10 hours. The speed was unexpectedly flattering.
