Introduction to Wenfang on March 3rd
Historical evolution: Tang Xun, the first martial champion in the history of Fujian, was a native of Wenfang Village, Nankou Town. In the twenty-first year of Shaoxing in the Southern Song Dynasty, Tang Xun was appointed as a martial champion by Zhao Gou of Song Gaozong in the national martial arts examination. In the twenty-fourth year of Shaoxing, Tang Xun was ordered by the imperial court to go to Qiongzhou to conquer the rebels of Li Wang Lixue of Nan'an County, Nan'an County, Qiongzhou Island, during which he was helped by Emperor Zhenwu to triumph. In order to thank Emperor Zhenwu for his protection, Tang Xun built a temple in his hometown Wenfang Village to worship Emperor Zhenwu in accordance with the promise he made to Emperor Zhenwu, and sat Zhenwu Temple side by side with his ancestral ancestral shrine, Tang Ancestral Temple, to share incense. At the same time, the local custom of the third day of the third month of March in Qiongzhou was brought back to his hometown and has been followed to this day. Nowadays, every year on the third festival of March, the villagers of Wenfang, Nankou Town, will hold grand activities such as ancestor worship, wandering gods, and playing ginkgo to worship the Zhenwu Emperor and the ancestors of the Tang family.
