Recently, foreign media Carscoops reported that China's Hongqi entered Germany with the E-HS9 luxury electric SUV to compete with luxury models under brands such as Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Porsche.
The Hongqi E-HS9 has an atmospheric exterior design, thanks to the former chief designer of Rolls-Royce, Giles Taylor. The car is positioned as an all-electric large luxury SUV with three rows of seats and can accommodate up to seven passengers. It will be available in two battery configurations. The first will come with a 99 kWh battery pack with a WLTP range of up to 289 miles (465 km). The second option, unique to the European market, features a larger 120 kWh battery pack for a range of up to 320 miles (515 km).
With up to 140 kW of charging power, the E-HS9 can add 62 miles (100 km) of range within 10 minutes of charging at a fast charging station, Hongqi said. With an overall body length of 205 inches (5,209 mm), it has plenty of room for these battery packs, and it's slightly longer than the BMW X7. However, the model with a larger battery pack has only six seats.
The Hongqi E-HS9 starts at 80,000 euros (about 627,000 yuan at the current exchange rate) in Germany, while the Exclusive Long Range version starts at 102,995 euros (about 807,000 yuan). In comparison, the BMW X7 starts at €103,000 in Germany.
