Among them, engine oil is an indispensable thing for our engine lubrication, for the engine, the important role of engine oil is the same as the blood of the human body, and the engine will not be able to operate normally without oil.
When the service life of the engine oil is almost worn out, we have to replace the new engine oil to avoid wear and tear during the operation of the engine, resulting in engine cylinder pulling. The pull cylinder is actually an abnormal wear inside the engine, resulting in excessive friction between the contact surfaces, which affects the normal operation of the engine. For example, when the piston moves up and down in the combustion chamber, it is very silky. When to change the engine oil, it mainly depends on whether we add mineral oil, semi-synthetic engine oil or fully synthetic engine oil. If it is mineral oil, we need to replace it after 5,000 kilometers, 7,500 kilometers if it is semi-synthetic, and 10,000 kilometers if it is fully synthetic. Here is a reminder to all riders, it is best to add fully synthetic engine oil when we add engine oil, which can reduce the wear and tear of our engine and make our engine not easy to break. When I went to maintain the car yesterday, I used 0W-20 SP grade fully synthetic engine oil, which is currently the highest level of fully synthetic engine oil, and there are more common SN grade and SL grade or even lower SE grade engine oil below it. The letter after this S proves that the higher the grade of the oil, for example, P is after N, so SP is a higher grade of oil than SN. The higher the grade of the oil, the longer the service life of this oil and the better the protection of the engine. So what does 0W-20 mean?
0W-20 is the model of engine oil, under normal circumstances, the model is the same, but the grade of oil is not the same, the price is not the same, for example, the SP grade oil I changed for 0W-20 is more than 500 barrels of 4L packaging. However, the same 0W-20 SE grade fully synthetic engine oil 4L package is only more than 300. Some people see others change the oil of 0W-20 and drive more than 10,000 kilometers to change the oil, and they do the same, but their cars are fine, but their cars break the engine. The main reason is that the oil used by people is better, while the oil you use is relatively poor. Therefore, it is not that the fully synthetic engine oil can be maintained for more than 10,000 kilometers with your eyes closed, you are reluctant to spend more money on the highest level of fully synthetic engine oil, then you will obediently maintain it according to the mileage recommended by others, otherwise you will suffer a dumb loss.

Nissan's Sylphy official original use of 5W-30 engine oil, and it is recommended to use SL grade or higher engine oil, but in fact, it is the same as the Toyota car I used before, in order to better fuel economy, you can use 0W-20 engine oil. The Sylphy I saw at a friend's workshop was using an SE-grade 10W-40 fully synthetic motor oil. Although this oil is also fully synthetic, the grade is really too low and the price is very cheap. However, it is obviously not suitable compared to the official recommended oil above the SL grade, and the SE is obviously a lower grade than the SL. And the 10W-40 model is obviously wrong, let's not talk about the number in front of this W, because we are in the south, the number in front of this W is not a big problem, mainly the number behind W. The official recommendation is to use 30 viscosity engine oil, but he used 40 viscosity engine oil, which means that his car will definitely be more fuel-intensive! And long-term use of this low-grade engine oil, it is very likely that his car engine has a lot of oil sludge inside, and the car will cost a lot of money when it is old!
When I was chatting with my friend, I asked him, "Isn't that the car that just left with this barrel of oil?" As a result, my friend said that the owner didn't know who was instructed by him, and insisted on using this engine oil, probably because he thought it was cheap. Obviously, he doesn't want Nissan's special 0W-20 engine oil, and the price is not much expensive, he has to do this, so he can only change it, and then people think I'm going to kill him. When we change the engine oil, we must pay attention to the grade and model of the engine oil, and we will suffer a big loss if we use it wrong.
Engine oil also has a shelf life, and the performance of the engine oil after the shelf life will continue to decline, which is why the 4S shop calls you to maintain it in three months or half a year. But in fact, the shelf life of our engine oil is not so short, the general shelf life of engine oil is as long as 4-5 years, but the shelf life of 4 to 5 years needs to be achieved in a cool and sealed environment, after adding to the car, the engine is in a high temperature environment, and the shelf life of the engine oil is also shortening, but it will not expire in three or five months. Besides, the shelf life is one thing, whether it can be used is another, the shelf life refers to whether the goods within the period are safe and reliable, and it is not a big problem to extend it a little.
Many people don't actually drive much for a year, and the oil is a relatively sealed environment in the oil pan, so there is no problem at all when you store it for a year. So if you drive less, then you can change it once a year, and if you are willing to spend money to change that SP grade oil, then you can change it again in a year and a half is not a big problem. The engine is not as fragile as everyone thinks, many vans in the countryside are basically not much maintenance, the owner opens the engine cover to see if the oil is enough, if it is not enough, add a little into it and continue to use, it can still be used for 10 years and 8 years, but such a car is certainly not long-lived.
If your car is prescribed to use high-viscosity engine oil, such as 5W-30 or even 40 engine oil, then you must pay attention to not blindly change the 0W-20 viscosity oil, otherwise the engine will pull the cylinder. But if your car recommends using 0W-20 viscosity oil, and you think this oil is too expensive, it is no problem to switch to 5W-30. I saw a guy on the Internet two days ago saying that 0W-20 oil is not a good thing, it is an IQ tax.
His reason is that this kind of engine oil is too thin to protect the engine at all, and he also used several viscosity engine oils to make a flow comparison, saying that the higher the viscosity of the engine oil, the better the engine, and I began to wonder if my understanding for so many years was really wrong. The higher the viscosity of the engine oil, the easier it is to adhere to the various parts of the engine, as if this is really the case, but is the car manufacturer also wrong? The low viscosity of the engine oil is so unbearable? The protection of the engine is mainly to see the quality of the oil film, not to see whether the oil is thick or not, and the oil with high viscosity may not be able to ensure that the oil film does not have problems in the high temperature working environment. A fully synthetic oil film is of higher quality and therefore better protected, not that its low viscosity does not mean that the quality is not good.
In addition, I only learned after driving the car for 12 years that in fact, maintaining the car is really not about changing the oil frequently, you have to change the right oil, otherwise the engine should be bad or broken, which is my experience in exchange for losses.
