What is Skateboarding?
Skateboarding originated in the late 50s and early 60s of the 20th century and evolved from the sport of surfing. Skateboarding is one of the board sports, which is a technical exercise that uses skateboards to complete various complex sliding, jumping, spinning, tumbling and other difficult actions on different surfaces and specific facilities.
At the end of the 80s of the 20th century, skateboarding was introduced to China through films, skaters and other forms. In Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Qinhuangdao and other cities, it is welcomed and participated by young people, and exchange events are organized.
There are various ways to play skateboarding, which are divided into various forms such as longboard downhill, longboard flat flower, skateboard racing, wave track racing, super ramp, skateboard freestyle, and flat competition.
Skateboarding and the Olympics
On August 4, 2016, the International Olympic Committee (IOCOG) announced that five sports, including skateboarding, would be officially included in the Olympic Games. Skateboarding began its Olympic journey.
In the official competition, skateboarding is mainly divided into street and bowl races.
The venue of the street competition generally covers an area of 1500-2000 square meters, including more than a dozen large steps, 3-4 small steps, a high platform of about 1 meter, and some large angle high platforms.
The street race adopts a 2+5 format, that is, the route race and the big trick race. In the preliminaries, each player has two rounds, each with a time limit of 45 seconds. In the final stage, each team member has two rounds of routes, each round is 45 seconds per person, plus 5 rounds of tricks (big moves) competition, one movement per person in each round.
The venue of the bowl and pool race is a form of turning the pool into a park, hence the name "park". Today's bowl designs still use pool-like tiles to attach to the edge of the pool site. The contestants compete on a "bowl-shaped" openwork prop with a series of complex curves, surrounded by arcing bowl walls, varying heights and slopes.
The bowl competition is divided into two stages: the preliminaries and the finals, and each athlete uses the bowl props to complete coherent movements, and each player has three opportunities to compete in each round, with each person having 45 seconds.
