A few days ago, the US media "Washington Post" published an article exposing another "newly formed unit" of the US military in China's vicinity. This unit, composed of members of the U.S. Marine Corps, specializes in responding to "sudden emergencies in the Western Pacific region," which is, to put it bluntly, preparations for possible conflicts in the Taiwan Strait, the South China Sea, the Diaoyu Islands, the Ryukyu Islands, and other regions.

This unit is named the "Littoral Combat Group", although the scale is small, but the US military regards it as a "surprise soldier", the unit mainly emphasizes mobility and "lethality", although it belongs to the Marine Corps, but the form of combat is indeed not the traditional amphibious operation, but to assist the US Air Force and Navy in the so-called "joint operations", and the unit is the eyes and ears of the "joint force", responsible for quickly collecting intelligence and sharing target data.

According to the Americans' assumptions, once the war starts, this force will be deployed to the front line, especially into the "rear" of our army, and send the coordinates of the position of the Chinese warship to the US B-1B strategic bomber, which can then launch missiles to destroy the Chinese warship from hundreds of kilometers away. The idea also provides the Philippines with target data for Chinese warships for example, so that it can launch cruise missiles to destroy Chinese warships.

Not only that, the unit will also be equipped with a shore-based "expeditionary ship interception system" that can hold two anti-ship missiles, and destroy PLA warships after landing on the coast of the mainland. However, this system needs to be transported by helicopter or surface vessel, and the maneuverability is relatively high, but it is also easy to be exposed, so the US military has also designed a series of "camouflage measures" for it, including pulling the distance between the vehicles, camouflaging vehicles, frequent movement, and using irregular communication silence to reduce the probability of detection. The U.S. military even used the experience of the Russian-Ukrainian battlefield as an "example", saying that although drones can quickly find targets, as long as they are dispersed enough, they still have a certain degree of survivability.

In short, this so-called "littoral combat group" is a reconnaissance and sabotage group that infiltrates our positions in wartime, especially since some of the people in this group may still have yellow faces and can speak Chinese to confuse the local people, which is nothing new. The United States introduced this unit with great fanfare and set a "grand target" for it, which is also very much in line with the US military's consistent style of rejoicing in great achievements; after all, if we do not boast about the role of this unit, it is difficult to say that the "old masters of Congress" will allocate money.

According to the US military's assumption, if the US military really wants to wage war in China's vicinity in the future, how much role can this "littoral combat group" play? First of all, the way they want to reach China's coast is by helicopter or boat; although we have a long coastline, the US military has to admit that we have more detection facilities and electromagnetic interference equipment, and in such a state, it will not be easy for this unit to land on the "first step." In addition, even if the coordinates of the PLA warships are known, it is still a problem that the US military can easily destroy the PLA warships.
