According to the data of the China Passenger Car Association, the cumulative retail sales of the domestic mid-size car market from January to February 2024 were 473,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 31.2%. The sales list of mid-size cars from January to February was revealed! Camry was only fifth, and the seal DM-i fell out of the top 20!
Specifically, there are seven midsize models with cumulative sales of more than 20,000 units from January to February this year (with an average monthly sales of more than 10,000 units). Joint venture brands continue to be the main sales force in the mid-size car market, with the cumulative sales of six joint venture mid-size vehicles exceeding 20,000 units, while only one model of the domestic brand has sold more than 20,000 units. The Volkswagen Passat was the only mid-size car with sales of more than 30,000 units, winning the mid-size car sales championship with 33,954 units. Its sister model, the Magotan sold 26,810 units, ranking second.
Among the luxury midsize cars, the BMW 3 Series ranked third with cumulative sales of 24,740 units, and the Mercedes-Benz C-Class also sold more than 20,000 units, ranking seventh with 21,603 units.
IN ADDITION, TESLA MODEL 3 HAS SOLD 17,573 UNITS, RANKING NINTH, AND AUDI A4L HAS SOLD 16,486 UNITS.
Toyota Camry and Honda Accord, which were once the champions and runners-up in mid-size car sales, sold 23,323 and 21,975 units from January to February, ranking fifth and sixth, down 19.0% and 21.0% year-on-year, respectively.
The Hongqi H5 is the only domestically produced mid-size car with cumulative sales of more than 20,000 units, ranking fourth with 24,651 units sold.
The Wuling Starlight PHEV won the sales championship of domestic new energy mid-size cars, ranking 10th with 15,750 units sold. Last year, Hongqi E-QM5, the sales volume of domestic new energy medium-sized cars, was 11,221 units, ranking 14th, and the sales of ZEEKR 007 also exceeded 10,000 units, ranking 16th with sales of 10,057 units.
Buick Regal, Nissan Teana, and Cadillac CT5 ranked 11th to 13th, with cumulative sales of 14,230, 12,962 and 11,762 units from January to February this year, all higher than the sales in the same period last year. The Ford Mondeo also sold more than 10,000 units, ranking 15th with 10,516 units sold.
The Navy SL03 and Toyota Asia Dragon both sold more than 9,000 units, ranking 17th and 18th with 9,681 and 9,374 units sold, respectively. The Besturn B70 and BMW i3 ranked 19th and 20th, with sales of more than 7,000 units each.
BYD Seal DM-i, which sold more than 10,000 units per month in the fourth quarter of last year, sold only 6,917 units from January to February this year, ranking only 21st. The cumulative sales of the all-electric version of the seal were as low as 3,861 units, ranking 29th, down 73.1% year-on-year. On February 28 and March 25 this year, the BYD Seal Family Glory Edition model was launched successively, and the starting price of the new car was further reduced, which will help enhance the market competitiveness of the Seal Family.
The Roewe D7 DMH, which has not been on the market for a long time, has sold a total of 6,304 units, ranking 25th, which has surpassed the sales of NIO ET5T, Xpeng P7 and other models. NIO ET5T sold 4,191 units, ranking 27th.
