Eight ancient city ruins have been confirmed in the Xiong'an New Area, the "City of the Future", and a large number of cultural relics have been found in them, stretching for thousands of years, with a clear lineage.

On April 1, 2017, Hebei Xiong'an New Area was established. In May of the same year, the cultural relics protection and archaeological workstation of Xiong'an New Area was unveiled. Subsequently, a joint archaeological team carried out archaeological pre-construction and carried out a dragnet cultural relics survey and survey of 1,770 square kilometers in the whole area.

On March 26, Lei Jianhong, the person in charge of the cultural relics protection and archaeology workstation in Xiong'an New Area, was sorting out the cultural relics unearthed at the Nanyang site.

Through excavation, it is basically confirmed that the main cultural connotation of the Nanyang site is the Yan culture from the Eastern Zhou Dynasty to the Han Dynasty. Two Warring States city sites have been discovered at the site, which is the earliest remains of the city site found in Xiong'an so far.

Lei Jianhong, head of the cultural relics protection and archaeological workstation of Xiong'an New Area, said that the archaeological discovery of the Nanyang site opened the prelude to the archaeology of Xiong'an City, hooked the historical context of Xiong'an New Area from the late Neolithic Age to the Song and Jin dynasties, and revealed its profound Yan cultural connotation.

Xiong'an, take the county name of Xiongxian County and Anxin County, the "Xiong" of Xiongxian County comes from the ancient city of Xiongzhou, and the "An" of Anxin comes from the ancient city of Anzhou.

In 959 A.D., the Later Zhou recovered the two states of Yan and Ying in the sixteen states of Yanyun, and built the Xiongzhou with Waqiaoguan, which is the origin of "Xiong". In 992 AD, the Song Dynasty established the Shun'an Army, which was later changed to Anzhou, which is the origin of "An".

The ruins of the ancient city of Xiongzhou are in today's Xiongxian County, and the archaeological survey shows that there are majestic brick towers in the north and south of the ancient city. Now the city gate tower on the ground has no existence, but there are still some remnants of the city wall; the ruins of the ancient city of Anzhou are in Anzhou Town, Anxin County, the city wall is the earthen city built by the Song Dynasty for the defense of Liao soldiers at the earliest, the Ming Dynasty reinforces the brick city, and the Qing Dynasty rebuilds. The existing walls are 1.5 to 2 meters high and two or three kilometers long.

This "city of the future" is "making way" for historical relics in large-scale construction. According to the opinions of the cultural relics department, Haiyue Street adjusted the route design and completely avoided the Nanyang site.

The eight ancient city ruins that have been confirmed in Xiong'an are the crystallization of convergence and cultural integration. Song Shaojun, deputy dean of the Yanzhao Institute for Advanced Study of Culture of Hebei University, said that multiculturalism collides, intersects and continuously integrates in Xiong'an, creating Xiong'an's "simple and courageous" spiritual temperament, "generosity and righteousness" social atmosphere and "compatible and open" humanistic quality.
