Dance, pottery, painting, recitation...... Recently, at the "Plant Reading Club" held by Chengjiaqiao Street in the street library, children from Airport Primary School and Hami Road Primary School showed their feelings about the book "The Magical Plant Kingdom". Let's take a look at what the children have →
Why do trees grow taller? Why do bamboos "spit water"? Why do figs need bees to pollinate without flowers? In the book "The Amazing Plant Kingdom", these "secrets" of nature are displayed in front of children through small stories, and the vivid and interesting content is loved by children. With their own "post-reading" works, more than 20 children came to the "Plant Reading Club" to communicate and share face-to-face with Wang Ximin, the author of the book and the director of the Science Popularization and Publicity Department of Shanghai Chenshan Botanical Garden.
In order to let the children quickly "break the ice", everyone chose a natural name for themselves with various animals and plants, and introduced themselves with actions. Blooming chrysanthemums, slim Wang Lian, flying peaks...... The children's rich body language brings a variety of flora and fauna to life.
In the discussion session, the children showed their "feelings after reading" in various forms. Dance a dance about roses to the music, make a bamboo sculpture out of soft pottery, draw the forms of various plants and form a tabloid, and compose poems for plants...... The children's wonderful "after-reading feelings" amazed everyone. "I am also inspired by the imagination and creativity of the people who are working in their work. Wang Ximin said. In order to stimulate more teenagers' interest in the natural world and meet their reading needs, Wang Ximin donated his translated popular science book "Nautilus and Giraffe" to Airport Primary School, Hami Road Primary School and Chengjiaqiao Street Library.
"I made a mind map of the stories in the book, so that I could quickly find different plants and remember a lot of the principles. "After reading this book, I learned a lot of knowledge!" "The children also gained a lot while making the "after-reading feeling".
It is understood that the Chengjiaqiao Street Autonomous Office will collect the excellent works of the children in this event and display them at the series of reading festival activities held by the Chengjiaqiao Street Library in April this year. "We hope that through activities such as nature reading clubs, children can find nature in books, and in the future, they can find knowledge in books in the habitat garden, and plant the seeds to become little nature interpreters. The relevant person in charge of the Chengjiaqiao Community Habitat Workstation said.
