Inside story of the Sino-Indian conflict in 22 years: India received US intelligence and ambushed 1000 PLA with 300 Indian troops

author:Pingnan-hsien

Although most of the Chinese people have not taken India seriously, this has not stopped India from treating China as a competitor, and in fact, India has been trying to compete with China in various aspects, including in the border areas.

The main reason for the long-standing border conflict between China and India is that India is trying to forcibly occupy the territory of the mainland with the so-called "McMahon Line" drawn by the British.

In recent years, the more well-known Sino-Indian border conflict is probably the Galwan Valley conflict in 2020, in which the PLA killed four people and seriously injured one under the sneak attack of the Indian army, causing anger across the country.

In fact, in 2022, China and India also clashed on the border, but the Chinese side rarely reported on that conflict. Limited information shows that India was supported by US intelligence at that time, and ambushed 300 PLA troops with 1,000 people in the border area, but I am afraid that it did not take much advantage.

The root cause of the contradictions and conflicts between China and India

Relations between China and India have never been good, and apart from the fact that India regards us as a competitor and wants to share with us in any field, the territorial dispute between the two countries is also a very important and even a fundamental point of contradiction.

China has many neighboring countries, many of which have territorial disputes with us, and India is probably the most ambitious of them. India is not a very strong country, but it has great ambitions and wants to become the world's top power, so India is "quite interested" in anything that can "expand its territory" and increase its strength.

Britain, a world-renowned "-stirring stick", once "patted its head" in southern Tibet and drew the so-called "McMahon Line" as the so-called "demarcation line" on the Sino-Indian border.

This line is drawn without any basis, and the territory of the mainland is also assigned to India, which is obviously to create contradictions between China and India, but because this line is beneficial to India, India is very persistent in this line.

Beginning in 1941, India frequently used the so-called "McMahon Line" as a benchmark to advance to the mainland, and also strengthened its garrisons on the border to encroach on the mainland's territory. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, India frequently smeared the mainland in the international community, trying to make the mainland fall into a situation of isolation and helplessness, and using this to forcibly occupy the mainland's territory.

Since the nascent new China is still very weak, we can only be patient for the time being, except to send troops to the border to maintain the security of our existing territory.

Due to India's constant encroachment and provocations, we had no choice but to launch a war of self-defense and counterattack against India, which completely extinguished the arrogance of the Indian army in just over half a month, and the Sino-Indian border also achieved "peace and stability" for decades.

Decades on, China and India have developed in a peaceful and stable environment, and India seems to have regained its self-confidence and is once again trying to encroach on the mainland's territory on the border.

Since 2008, India has once again provoked provocations on the border, triggering several confrontations between the two armies, and in 2020, the Indian army's sneak attack in the Galwan Valley also killed four of our troops and seriously injured one, triggering anger across our country.

However, in that sneak attack, the Indian army's casualties were more serious than ours, which made the Indian side feel "disgraced", and also made the racists in India very dissatisfied, India has been looking for an opportunity to "retaliate" against China, and in 2022, the opportunity they have been waiting for has come.

Indian troops ambushed the PLA

In December 2022, the Indian side formulated a detailed plan to prepare to launch an undulating attack on our army in the Dongzhang region of southern Tibet to regain a little "face".

There is very little coverage of this incident in the mainland media, and in fact there is very limited coverage in India and the West, and people know that most of the stories come from a small number of media reports and some videos spread on social media.

According to available information, a team of more than 300 people from a certain unit of the Western Theater of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) conducted routine patrols in the Dongzhang area of southern Tibet to conduct routine patrols in the Sino-Indian border area, where the Indian army launched an ambush against the PLA.

The Dongzhang area is a disputed area in the Tawang section of the Sino-Indian border, and this place can be said to be quite important. On the one hand, the Gelugpa monastery established by order of the Fifth Dalai Lama, Ngawang Lobsang Gyatso, is located here, and it is also the birthplace of the Sixth Dalai Lama, Changyang Gyatso, which is the religious center of southern Tibet.

On the other hand, the Tawang area is the essence of the whole southern Tibet, the climate is warm and humid, and it is the only place in Tibet that can grow a large amount of rice except Yadong, so it is also relatively prosperous and belongs to the economic and cultural center of southern Tibet.

The struggle between China and India in the Tawang section is quite complicated, but in short, since 2006, China and India have temporarily maintained peace in the region, and both sides have conducted border patrols along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) and will not easily cross the LAC to clash.

But on that day, things changed. At that time, the PLA was defenseless and thought that the patrol in the Dongzhang area was just a routine mission, but during the patrol, the PLA found that about 50 Indian soldiers had illegally crossed the Line of Actual Control and entered mainland territory, and they also occupied strategic commanding heights, which seemed to be trying to provoke us.

Therefore, in accordance with the previous principles of dealing with such things, our army drove away the Indian army through cold weapons.

As everyone knows, the principle of our army is to "not fire the first shot," and if cold weapons are used, there will inevitably be close contact or even physical contact with the Indian army, that is to say, the scene is actually the PLA and the Indian army pushing and scuffling with each other.

At this time, a number of Indian troops suddenly appeared nearby, armed with electric batons, maces and other weapons, and surrounded our army.

Later data showed that the Indian army had ambushed about 1,000 people nearby at that time, and they used 50 people as bait to launch an undulating attack on our army, putting our army at an absolute disadvantage in numbers.

Although our army reacted quickly and formed a formation to resist the attack of the Indian army, because both sides used cold weapons, the numerical disadvantage was actually difficult to make up, and finally after more than one day of fierce fighting, our army was forced to retreat and ended the conflict.

In the end, although there was no clear report of the casualties on both sides, it was widely believed that the PLA was more seriously injured than the Indian army.

Moreover, the Indian side did not admit that it was they who crossed the line to provoke, and even bit back, saying that the PLA was "approaching" the Line of Actual Control, which affected India's so-called "territorial security" and that they had to carry out a so-called "counterattack".

According to India, our army has not crossed the Line of Actual Control at all, so how can it possibly pose a threat to the so-called "territorial security of India"?

Later, everyone learned that this incident was not unrelated to the instigation of the United States.

U.S. intelligence support

This "inside story" was actually reported by the US media themselves, and the US media triumphantly said that India's ability to gain the upper hand in the Sino-Indian border conflict was all due to its own merits.

In 2022, according to US media reports, it was the US military that provided the Indian military with key information such as the location of the PLA positions and real-time satellite images of the movement of PLA troops, which allowed the Indian army to successfully ambush the PLA in the Dongzhang area and caught the PLA by surprise.

The U.S. military's UAVs and reconnaissance satellites are the world's leading, the U.S. military's RQ-4 "Global Hawk", MQ-9 "Reaper" and other UAVs are all world-leading products, and the U.S. military's most advanced reconnaissance satellites can observe objects with a ground length of less than 1 meter.

In other words, the actions of the PLA on the border, although India may not be very clear, but the United States is certainly clear.

In order to win over India, the United States and India signed a "Basic Exchange and Cooperation Agreement on Geospatial Cooperation," according to which the Indian military can mobilize some of the Pentagon's reconnaissance satellites to obtain intelligence, and the US military will also share important intelligence with India.

Obviously, the movement of the PLA on the border is a very important piece of information, and India's ambush of the PLA in the Dongzhang area is also a "test" of cooperation between the two sides. At that time, India will be able to obtain more information, and the situation on the Sino-Indian border will become more tense.

After all, India can not only provoke and disturb the peace on the mainland border on the border, but also carry out all kinds of "harassment" against China in the Indian Ocean and other places.

However, I am afraid that the United States has also mismade this wishful thinking. After all, judging from the reality of the situation, in fact, at least for a short time, India does not really want to conflict with China on the border.

On the one hand, after the 2022 conflict, both China and India showed that they did not want to escalate the situation. The Chinese side has rarely reported on this matter, and the sporadic reports have also been carried out in a few strokes, which appear to be very "low-key", while India did not make a big deal about its victory after being "proud", and even quickly communicated through the dialogue mechanism, calming the situation and easing the situation on the border.

On the other hand, judging from Modi's current behavior, although he wants to show his "tough attitude" internally, it is more to gain more support in domestic elections, rather than really wanting to break out into conflict with China.

If India really provoked a border conflict, I am afraid that the "tragedy" of the 60s of the last century will be repeated in India, and the Indian government may not be able to bear such consequences.

Of course, we also want to advise India not to covet land that does not belong to it, let alone think that it can defeat China by cooperating with the United States, and if they continue to provoke on the border, they will one day reap the consequences.
