Previously, Toyota announced that it will launch mass-produced solid-state batteries in the next few years, and its overall performance is very good, and it is infinitely close to mass production. At that time, there were many comments that Toyota fully advocated hydrogen power battery vehicles, full of resistance to electric vehicles, may be buying time for solid-state batteries, once Toyota has made a major breakthrough in solid-state batteries and achieved mass production, then Toyota will become a "pole" in global new energy vehicle technology, other car companies need to buy solid-state battery patents from Toyota at a high price, or direct procurement costs, Toyota's "sitting on the ground to collect money" that familiar feeling will come back.
However, at the beginning, CATL and other levels stated that they had not heard that Toyota had a breakthrough technology in this area, and global manufacturers were in a state of intense research and development in the area of solid-state batteries. Previously, Wu Kai of CATL said, "There are still some core problems to be solved in all-solid-state batteries. If Toyota says that it can produce all-solid-state batteries now, I doubt it. But by 2027, I can't predict either. In terms of the technical level of CATL, it is also very difficult", so Toyota has achieved a big breakthrough in the solid-state battery, which may be just a smoke bomb.
However, in recent days, a domestic power battery supplier with low public awareness has made its own voice. Huineng Technology (Taiwan) announced on February 22 that the world's first solid-state battery production line has been officially put into operation! That is to say, from the perspective of Huineng Technology, the production of solid-state batteries has been completed, and the next step is to connect modules and technologies with new energy vehicle companies, obtain manufacturers and product needs, and make preliminary preparations for the next mass production and supply.
It is reported that the solid-state battery produced by Huineng Technology is a large lithium ceramic battery, referred to as LLCB, the shape of this battery is close to flat, using the high thermal conductivity of the ceramic electrolyte to increase the energy density of the solid-state battery through a compact heat dissipation system, in our opinion, belongs to a kind of "semi-solid" solid-state battery. The advantage of this battery is that it is smaller in size, stores more electric energy, and the vehicle can get a longer mileage, and the key is that the charging efficiency is much faster than the current ternary lithium battery and lithium iron phosphate battery.
According to the data given by the manufacturer, the solid-state battery can be charged to 80% in 12 minutes, and in a fully charged state, the electric vehicle can last more than 1000 kilometers, and with the increase in density, the battery volume will also be greatly reduced, it is said that the volume of the solid-state battery is half smaller than the mainstream 2170 battery under the same battery capacity. In this way, on the basis of ensuring the cruising range, manufacturers will be given more freedom, mainly in terms of body design and front and rear weights.
In fact, according to Huineng Technology, the current solid-state battery samples have been sent to various manufacturers for the development of modules for adaptability testing, that is, automobile manufacturers according to the product characteristics of the solid-state battery, adaptability testing, to see if other components such as electronic control, electric drive and the battery can adapt, and at the same time, according to the volume and capacity of the battery, combined with the design of the product, give the specific specification data of the battery, and return it to Huineng Technology, which will start production and delivery. So according to this rhythm, it may not take long for a full battery life of more than 1000 kilometers, and electric vehicles with a charge of more than 800 kilometers in 12 minutes will bloom everywhere, which is undoubtedly good news for the new energy vehicle industry.
