According to Shams of the Athletic, the Nets fired head coach Jacques Vaughn, who also became another head coach to go out of the East this season.

Vaughn's dismissal was not a surprise. The Nets have lost six of their last 10 games. With a 21-33 record so far this season, the Nets are currently in 11th place in the East, 2.5 wins away from the 10th-10th Hawks, and it looks like the playoffs are getting farther and farther away from them.

Vaughn has been coaching since 2010, first as an assistant coach with the Spurs. Two years later, Vaughn became the head coach of the Magic. In 2016, Vaughn came to the Nets as the team's head assistant coach. In 2020, Vaughn served as the interim head coach of the Nets, and in 2022, he was promoted to become the head coach of the Nets.

In fact, last February, the Nets signed Vaughn to a multi-year contract extension. He led the Nets to a 12-1 record and was named Coach of the Month.

Sadly, Vaughn hasn't been able to make the Nets see improvement this season. After the departure of the Big Three, the Nets are now likely to be completely rebuilt.

Nets officials also explained Vaughn's dismissal, and general manager Marks said that this is a very difficult decision, but it is also a decision that is in the best interests of the team at the moment, thanking him for his past efforts and wishing him a happy future life. As the head coach of the Nets, Vaughn led the team to an overall record of 71 wins and 68 losses.
