China, visa-free for Chinese Australians!

Australia is the dream immigration country for many Chinese.

Many people dream of being proud of an Australian passport.

But what is puzzling is that Australian citizenship is not the first choice for Chinese immigrants.

For a long time, the naturalization rate of immigrants from Chinese mainland has averaged around 30%.

In 2016-2017, it fell to the lowest level ever, at only 22.2%.

It can be seen that a considerable number of Chinese immigrants who have taken root in Australia will still leave themselves prepared and only take permanent residence without becoming a citizen of Australia.

There are probably three reasons why most Chinese immigrants choose to only get a green card and not become a naturalized citizen.

There is a constant connection with China.

With an Australian passport and free access to more than 180 countries around the world, traveling around the world is not a dream.

Once you become an Australian citizen, you have to apply for a visa in advance to return to China

Therefore, from a practical point of view, most Chinese immigrants are still inextricably linked to China, and once they become Australian citizens, it will be more troublesome and difficult to maintain ties with China.

For family reunification, the following must be provided:

An invitation letter issued by a Chinese citizen or a foreigner with a Chinese permanent residence status residing in China. The invitation letter must contain the following:

(1) Personal information of the invitee: name, gender, date of birth, etc.;

(2) Information on the invitee's visit to China: purpose of visit, intended date of arrival, intended place of residence, intended period of stay, relationship with the inviting individual, source of expenses during the period of stay in China, etc.;

(3) Information of the inviter: name, contact number, address, signature of the inviter, etc.

2. A copy of the inviting individual's Chinese ID card or foreigner's passport and permanent residence permit;

3. Original and photocopy of proof of family relationship between the applicant and the inviting individual (marriage certificate, birth certificate or notarized certificate of kinship, etc.).

If you are returning to China with a foreign passport and a Chinese visa, you need to register your accommodation within 24 hours of landing.

If you are staying at home in China or at a relative's house, you must report to the local public security organ within 24 hours of arrival by the overnight guest or yourself with the passport, certificate and household registration booklet of the overnight guest, and fill in the temporary accommodation registration form.

In general, it is relatively cumbersome for Australian Chinese to go back to China

Later, China also carried out some degree of visa optimization.

Since May 2019, Guangdong Province has implemented a 144-hour transit visa exemption policy for foreigners.

Foreign Chinese in Australia can also stay in China for a short time through the 144-hour transit visa exemption in Guangdong.

China, visa-free for Chinese Australians!

Since December last year, China has successively introduced a number of visa optimization measures to further facilitate people-to-people exchanges between China and foreign countries: France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain and Malaysia have implemented a unilateral visa exemption policy, and Chinese embassies and consulates abroad have taken phased measures to reduce or exempt visa fees for Chinese countries.

Entering 2024, the big news continues!

Just now, China has optimized the policy of returning Chinese Australians to China.

China, visa-free for Chinese Australians!

China's National Immigration Administration has made another big move.

According to the announcement issued by the National Immigration Administration of China, from February 9, 2024, foreign nationals from some countries around the world will be expanded to enter Hainan without visas

For reasons such as business, trade, visits, family visits, medical treatment, exhibitions, sports competitions, etc., you can enter Hainan without a visa

Citizens of some countries are allowed to enter Hainan visa-free for a stay of no more than 30 days for business, visit, family visits, medical treatment, exhibitions, sports competitions, etc. (except for work and study reasons).

Among them, Australia is included!

This also means that Australian Chinese naturalized Australians can enter China visa-free.

Chinese Australians can enter China without a visa for 30 days

Why?

On February 1, the research team of the International Research Institute of China Tourism Academy released the "China Inbound Tourism Development Report (2023-2024)"

According to the data of the national immigration management agency to inspect the entry and exit personnel, in 2023, the number of foreigners entering and leaving the country will only recover to 36% of the 2019 level.

The number of inbound tourists received by travel agencies nationwide has only recovered to less than 10% of 2019 levels.

According to data released by China's National Immigration Administration on January 18, the number of foreign tourists entering and leaving the country in 2023 will be 35.478 million, which is still far from the 97.675 million before the epidemic in 2019.

The Economic Daily reported that the recovery rate of China's inbound tourism is low

According to China's Ministry of Culture and Tourism, in the first half of 2023, travel agencies across the country received only 477,800 inbound tourists

China hopes to increase the number of foreigners entering China

At present, the number of flights between China and Australia continues to increase.

Airfares are also continuing to fall.

The visa-free policy is out again, which is simply a blessing

It is simply too convenient for the Chinese to return to China now.

Now that new convenience measures have been announced,

Naturalized Chinese Australians want to return to China,

It's also become more convenient.

However, although the procedure for returning to the country is simpler, there are still many things to be aware of.

The biggest inconvenience is that foreign credit cards are very inconvenient to pay in China, and China's WeChat Pay or Alipay need to use a domestic bank account to install, and there is no domestic mobile phone number, and even a taxi cannot be called.

I still hope that in the future, I can make some changes in the details to facilitate the return of foreign Chinese.

So, will you be returning to China in the near future?

What do you think about the visa-free return policy?
