Playing with a spinning top is one of the greatest pleasures I can remember from my childhood!

Most of my fox friends and I choose to play tops in the school playground, the threshing floor of the production team, or our own venue. Playtime is generally after school, winter and summer vacations, and Sundays.

Spinning top, in our hometown, is also commonly known as "skin light". The top surface is flat, the upper section is cylindrical, the lower section is conical, and the low end of some gyroscopes is also inlaid with a steel ball to facilitate wear-resistance. The material is wood. The height generally varies from 6~8 cm. Most of the production is handmade by carpenters, and a small number of exquisite machine tools are processed and made, and the quality is naturally first-class!
Whipping the spinning top is done with a cloth whip, or a leather whip.
When playing with the top, first use the whip belt on the ground to overlap the upper section of the top one by one, and then grasp the top with the left hand, quickly pull the whip with the right hand, and release the left hand at the same time, and the top will rotate quickly on the field in an instant without falling down (this is the embodiment of the principle of angular momentum), and then whip the top from time to time, the top can always keep rotating rapidly, and the wooden rings and lines on the top form a circle of exquisite, well-proportioned concentric circles, which is the happiest time in our hearts!

When the whip frequency decreases, the spinning top speed decreases, and begins to swing (that is, the "precession" in physics), that is, the top surface of the spinning top is shaking, at this time, we know the time to make up for the whip, and then the spinning top is like being beaten with chicken blood, and immediately resume the state of rapid rotation, our mood is a little excited!
A few of our friends who often play together are very naughty, but they are very skilled in playing the tops! They can all whip 3 spinning tops at the same time alone, and ensure that all 3 spinning tops can be balanced and rotate quickly for a long time. This is an amazing achievement, and all of us adore them!

Individual partners have strong hands-on ability, and can make spinning tops independently at a young age, such partners have become skilled craftsmen among us, and the status is the highest among us!
Sometimes my spinning top is broken, and I can't find a carpenter to make it for a while, so I can only do it myself, but my hands-on ability is poor, and the spinning top made is not only ugly in appearance, but also very difficult to use, I can only ask my mother for help, my mother is not a carpenter, naturally I don't know much about the process of making spinning tops, but I can't let me be disappointed, so I can only reluctantly agree to help me improve it, there is no axe and wood planer, my mother has to use a kitchen knife instead, tossing for a long time, in order to barely use. I went back to the venue to play spinning tops, which was also a good enjoyment and fun!

Decades have passed, and when I return to my hometown from the city, it is difficult to find the scene of the children playing with the top, and I can't help but feel a little lost! Sometimes I have to stand alone in the place where I played the top, reminiscing about this memory of my childhood alone!
A few years ago, I went on several business trips to other places, and I happened to see a group of old men in the park in the city beating spinning tops, and I suddenly became excited, and I couldn't help but go up and enjoy it for a long time.

These old men can play energetically! One by one the spinning tops are neatly aligned, all of them are giant shaped, the production is exquisite, at a glance you know that all are processed by machine tools, and are painted with colorful patterns, each person whips 2~3 spinning tops, and the sound of the leather whip crackles rhythmically, like a salute.
I felt like I was back in my childhood, and I was so happy!
