In order to enrich the children's after-school cultural life during the winter vacation, through the combination of knowledge and practice, strengthen the children's patriotic education, help them establish correct and positive values and outlook on life, and let them spend a healthy, happy and meaningful holiday. Under the guidance of the Guilin Civil Affairs Bureau and the Guilin Social Organization Incubation Base, the Guilin Boai Social Work Service Center actively linked social charity resources, and received strong support from Alipay Public Welfare Platform and Chengmei Charity Foundation, and launched the Chengmei "Building Dreams in the Sunshine for Aiyi Children" Sunshine Growth Camp at the Guilin Social Organization Maker Space from January 28 to February 2, 2024.
In the Sunshine Growth Camp, accompanied by social workers and instructors, the children participated in five theme activities: teamwork, safety and self-care, science education, social integration, and public welfare education, to enhance the children's optimism and self-confidence, courage to explore, creative thinking, interpersonal communication, problem solving, teamwork and other literacy. The growth camp allows children to spend a meaningful and valuable winter vacation, laying a solid foundation for their growth.
On February 2nd, the six-day Sunshine Growth Camp ended, let's review the wonderful moments of the growth camp!
1. Opening ceremony
On the first day of the camp, the social worker introduced himself to the children, and everyone got to know each other. In addition, each group also selects the leader of each group through discussion, establishes a group contract, determines the learning goals, and precautions during the learning growth camp.
2. Teamwork
Military training exhibition style
In the cold wind and drizzle, the growth camp ushered in the most touching moment. Even though the weather was bad, the children's excitement and anticipation remained undiminished. Early in the morning, the instructor led the children through rigorous military training. In the military training, the children showed the positive and never-backward spirit of the teenagers in the new era, and they showed their demeanor and dispelled the severe winter cold through loud slogans, vigorous steps, neat queues and full enthusiasm.
During these six days, the instructors and social workers patiently taught the children how to fold quilts, tidy up housekeeping, and wash laundry. These seemingly simple daily tasks are actually essential for developing children's ability to live independently. It is these details that allow children to gradually develop good habits in their daily lives, which will benefit them for life.
Team building activities
In order to allow the children to quickly integrate into the unfamiliar environment and collective, the growth camp carefully planned team building and expansion games such as "Squirrels and Big Trees", "Crossing the River by Touching Stones", "Traveling Thousands of Miles" and "Throwing Pots". Under the leadership of the teachers, the children have a division of labor and cooperation, enhance friendship in laughter, and cultivate a team spirit of proactive, united and cooperative.
3. Safety and self-protection
Legal education classes
On the afternoon of January 31, the teacher gave a lively legal education class to the children. In the course, the teacher explained the practical cases of the Law on the Protection of Minors, so that the children could understand the importance and necessity of the law. The teachers also interacted with the children, allowing them to understand the significance of law-abiding for personal growth and social harmony and stability from their own perspectives. At the same time, the teacher also explained the relationship between rights and obligations in simple terms, so that the children can understand how to protect their legitimate rights and interests through the law.
This legal education class is of great significance to the growth of children. Through learning legal knowledge, children will better understand their rights and obligations, clarify the code of conduct, and enhance their sense of self-protection.
Safety education
Then, the instructor explained the safety knowledge of teenagers to the children, and the classroom was rich in content, covering many aspects such as safety awareness training, network security knowledge, traffic safety knowledge, fire safety knowledge, food safety knowledge and emergency self-rescue knowledge.
In the safety awareness training session, the instructor emphasized the importance of safety awareness and reminded everyone to always be vigilant to avoid safety accidents. At the same time, Instructor Bin also explained the knowledge of network security, transportation, fire protection and food safety in simple terms through case analysis, so that the children can have a more comprehensive understanding of the application of safety knowledge in real life.
In addition, the instructor also explained to the children the knowledge of emergency self-rescue, such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation, hemostasis, etc., so that they can take the right measures in an emergency. Museum tours
On January 30th, the children came to the Guilin Museum for research and visited the exhibition hall of "Lishui Spring and Autumn - Guilin History and Culture Exhibition". The study visit takes the historical development of Guilin as the baseline, and uses cultural relics, charts, photos and new scientific and technological means to reproduce the profound historical and cultural imprint of this land of Guilin. During the visit, the children consciously abided by discipline, listened carefully to the explanation, and asked questions about the knowledge points they were interested in, and the commentator also answered the children's questions carefully.
Explore the mysteries of nature
On January 31st, the teachers led a group of curious children on a journey to explore the karst landscape, this time to the picturesque Crown Rock.
Early in the morning, the children set off happily under the guidance of social workers and instructors, eager to explore this mysterious landscape. After arriving at the destination, the social worker first popularized the knowledge of karst landform to everyone, so that the children had a preliminary understanding of this unique landform type.
Immediately afterwards, the children came to the picturesque Crown Rock. Through the theme course of "The Journey of a Drop of Water", the children were amazed by the magic of nature on the one hand, and on the other hand, they learned about the relevant scientific knowledge of many caves, and learned to observe the direction of water flow in the caves through the rock formation. This activity not only allowed the children to get close to nature and increase their knowledge, but also cultivated their observation and thinking skills in practice, so that the children could learn and grow in learning, and leave good memories for their childhood.

On the afternoon of January 29, the social worker gave the children a vivid "Childlike Heart to the Party - Patriotic Lesson". The social worker explained the knowledge of party history to the children in easy-to-understand language, told about the Xiangjiang Battle and the heroic deeds of the revolutionary martyrs, and enhanced the children's patriotic feelings. The social workers also broadened the children's knowledge and deepened their familiarity with patriotic knowledge through the interaction of patriotic knowledge.
On the afternoon of February 1st, there was a patriotic class: Vietnam veterans told patriotic stories, through veterans sharing their personal experiences on the battlefield, including the hardships of battle, the test of life and death, and the preciousness of comradeship, to show the children the cruelty and heroism of war, and also emphasize the preciousness and cherishing of peace. The story of the veteran inspired the children's love and pursuit of patriotism, and worked together to contribute to the prosperity of the country and the progress of society.

On January 30th, the etiquette teacher brought a wonderful Chinese culture etiquette course to the children. In the course, the teacher first explained the basic knowledge and norms of traditional Chinese etiquette to the children. Through vivid explanations and demonstrations, she let the children understand the importance and practical application of traditional etiquette. At the same time, in order to allow the children to better experience traditional etiquette, the teacher also organized a series of interesting folk games. On February 1st, the teacher brought a unique tea art class to the children, allowing them to have an in-depth understanding of the basic knowledge and experience of tea art. During the lesson, the teacher introduced the children to the basic knowledge and skills of tea art, including how to choose tea leaves, how to make tea, how to taste tea, etc. She also demonstrated how to make oil tea and glutinous rice cakes, allowing the children to experience the food culture of ethnic minorities first-hand. This growth camp carried out three patriotic-themed handicrafts: five grains harvest patriotic paste, DIY red flag bracelet, and intangible cultural heritage rubbing handmade, aiming to let children inherit and carry forward the spirit of patriotism while enhancing their hands-on ability. In the "Harvest of Five Grains" session, the children learned about the origin and significance of the five grains and felt the profundity of Chinese culture by making their own grain paintings. In the DIY red flag bracelet session, the children made bracelets with bright red cloth, expressing their love and blessings for the motherland. The most innovative and distinctive is the "engraving printing" handmade course, in which the children experienced the ancient printing technology, and through their own efforts, the words and patterns were printed on paper, which not only exercised their hands-on ability, but also made them deeply feel the breadth and profundity of Chinese culture. Children convey the emotion of gratitude through singing. They learn the sign language song "Grateful Heart", and use singing and sign language to express their love for life and gratitude to the people around them. The closing ceremony was held in a warm and relaxed atmosphere. The children were dressed in uniform and had big smiles on their faces. First of all, the children brought a touching performance, they sang "Grateful Heart" in unison, the song was pure and sincere, and expressed their gratitude to their parents, teachers and all those who cared for them with their immature singing voices and smooth and neat movements.
At the closing ceremony, the children brought their respective talents to show, and their wonderful performances won the warm cheers of the audience. Then, the teachers presented certificates and gifts to all the campers. In addition, birthday cakes were prepared for two birthday children, and the children had an unforgettable group birthday together.
Good times are always short-lived, and six days are fleeting. In these short six days, the children followed the red trail, explored the mysteries of nature, learned to know themselves, continued the classroom, studied in the bright classroom, immersed in the happy time, and the teachers and parents witnessed the growth and transformation of the children.
