On September 14, 2020, the police received a report that a woman had died in an apartment in Taizhou Bay New District. It was the community property that called the police. After investigation, the deceased, surnamed Wang, was 34 years old, an employee of a local bookstore, and died of poisoning.
According to Ms. Wang's colleague, Ms. Wang suddenly asked for leave three days before the incident, and because she could not be contacted on the day of the incident, she came to her community to find someone. Accompanied by the property, she opened the door and found Ms. Wang lying on the ground, confirmed dead.

An investigation by the Taizhou Municipal Public Security Bureau found that Ms. Wang was killed by him, and the murderer was her husband Dai. Subsequently, Dai was criminally detained. According to the previously released police report, the suspect Dai confessed to luring his wife Wang to death by taking poison to obtain accident insurance compensation.

On December 1, 2021, the case was tried in the Intermediate People's Court of Taizhou City, Zhejiang Province, on suspicion of intentional homicide.
The prosecution alleged that the defendant Dai had a debt of more than 2.6 million yuan due to the failure of stock speculation and virtual currency speculation, and in order to alleviate the economic pressure, he had the evil idea of killing people and defrauding huge insurance money.
On April 26, 2020, Dai asked Wang to apply for a term life insurance policy with an insurance amount of 2 million yuan online. After the 90-day deductible period of the insurance was about to expire, Dai married Wang on July 20, 2020, and asked Wang to change the insurance beneficiary from his father to his spouse Dai on July 24, 2020.
Since June 2020, Dai has purchased pearl powder capsules twice, dried puffer fish five times, and tetrodotoxin four times through five female friends. On September 11, 2020, Dai personally filled 20 mg of tetrodotoxin into two pearl powder capsules. On September 12, 2020, after creating the illusion of his alibi, Dai asked Wang to unknowingly take the poison capsule and asked him to uninstall WeChat, and after Wang reported vomiting, he again asked Wang to take the second poison capsule, which eventually led to Wang's death.
Wang's family mentioned in the civil complaint attached to the criminal case that Wang was just one of Dai's many female friends, and from applying for insurance, getting married, to changing the beneficiary, Dai induced Wang to complete it. In addition, every time Dai buys pearl powder and tetrodotoxin, he asks his female friends to buy anonymously, in the name of others, or after purchase, he will change his mobile phone card and delete WeChat.
The lawyer representing the victim Wang's family believes that Dai X directly and intentionally killed people in order to defraud a huge amount of insurance money, and the circumstances and methods are extremely heinous, and should constitute the crime of direct intentional homicide and insurance fraud, and sentenced the defendant Dai X to death. Because of his criminal acts, he caused great economic and mental losses to Wang's family, and should be compensated.
In 2022, Dai Lumin was sentenced to death for intentional homicide in the first instance, and the original verdict was upheld in the second instance.
