On February 2, the Chinese Embassy in Tunisia held the 2024 "Warm Spring Festival, Celebrating the Chinese New Year" New Year Reception to celebrate the upcoming Spring Festival of the Year of the Dragon with Chinese compatriots in Tunisia. More than 100 people, including Ambassador Wan Li, representatives of Chinese-funded institutions in Tunista, medical teams aiding Turkistan, Confucius Institutes, overseas Chinese in Turkistan and international students, attended the ceremony.

Ambassador Wan pointed out that China-Tunisia relations have developed steadily over the past year. Adhering to the original aspiration of mutual respect, common development and exchanges and mutual learning, the two sides understand and support each other on issues concerning each other's core interests and major concerns, uphold international fairness and justice in international and regional affairs, and safeguard the common interests of developing countries. The two countries have been inaugurating the International Diplomatic Academy (IITA), which was inaugurated by President Saied and attended by Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs. Positive progress has been made in important cooperation projects such as the Gabbes Cancer Center, the expansion project of Sfax Hospital, and the 100 MW photovoltaic power plant in Kairouan. After the pandemic, people-to-people exchanges have been revitalized, people-to-people ties have been deepened, and the foundation of friendship and public opinion between the two countries has been further consolidated. The year 2024 marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Tunisia.
