On June 9th, the 7th Cross-Strait Tea King Competition of the 13th Straits Forum and the Zhao'an Eight Immortals Tea (Spring) Tea King Competition were held in the evaluation room of zhao'an County Tea Association.
This year's Tea King Competition received a total of 69 samples of Eight Immortals Tea from 56 enterprises, and six experts led by Huang Jian'an, professor of Hunan Agricultural University, doctor of tea science and graduate tutor, conducted sensory code evaluation throughout the process in accordance with the "Tea Sensory Evaluation Method", and comprehensively scored from several aspects such as the shape, soup color, aroma and taste of tea, and took the full rank from high score to low score in order to award the corresponding awards. The tea king competition judging was conducted under the live broadcast of "Say Tea".
The Tea King Competition will produce 1 Tea King, 3 Gold Awards and 6 Quality Awards; the prize money will be 30,000 yuan, 15,000 yuan and 0.5 million yuan respectively, a total of 105,000 yuan, and the winners will be awarded with bonuses, medals and certificates. The results of the judging will be announced after the safety testing of the shortlisted samples is passed.
Eight Immortals Tea is the first new national oolong tea new breed newly selected and approved by the state after the founding of New China. Due to the strong taste, sweet aftertaste and high-edge and long-lasting aroma of Eight Immortals Tea, it became the new favorite of the tea market for a time, and Zhao'an County began to promote planting in a large area. In the 1990s, Eight Immortals Tea was very famous and was once the pillar industry of Zhao'an's agricultural economy.
Zhao'an is a oolong tea producing area in southern Fujian, with a history of more than 400 years of tea production. Dried tea strips are tightly knotted, the color is oily, the smell is light and dried fruit and flower, the aroma is sharp and long-lasting after brewing, the variety is prominent, the soup color is orange and yellow, bright, the taste is strong, and it is resistant to brewing.
It is understood that in order to accelerate the development of the eight immortal tea industry, in recent years, Zhao'an County has actively held activities such as tea king competitions, tasting meetings, and skill competitions to promote the improvement of the production process and level of eight immortal teas, and further expand the influence of the Zhao'an eight immortals tea brand. At the same time, the Zhao'an County government also actively organized tea enterprises to participate in exhibitions and expositions throughout the country, leading the Eight Immortals Tea out of Fujian and to all parts of the country.
Up to now, zhao'an county tea planting area of 53,000 mu, the annual output of 14,000 tons, the annual output value of 1.29 billion yuan, of which, the eight immortals tea area and output accounted for more than 80%. There are 9 main tea producing townships and more than 40 main production villages in the county, and the tea area and output account for more than 95% of the county. There are more than 40,000 tea employees in the county.
