"When I first joined the work to visit a patient with a heart attack on the farm, I missed the best time to rescue him due to the long distance, which made me deeply understand the importance of popularizing emergency care knowledge. Shen Yonggang recalled.
After that incident, Shen Yonggang would participate in ambulance learning and training whenever he had the opportunity to improve his ambulance ability. In 2013, Shen Yonggang joined the Red Cross Society of Wujiaqu City of the Sixth Division and obtained the qualification certificate of emergency ambulance trainer.
"In the event of an accident, if the patient can be rescued as soon as possible, it will greatly improve the chance of treatment, which is a very meaningful thing, I not only have to learn by myself, but also popularize the knowledge of rescue." Shen Yonggang said.
In 2019, Shen Yonggang set up the Red Cross Volunteer Service Team of the Normal Hospital and served as the captain, and since then, no matter the wind or rain, the cold or the heat, he will use his spare time to go deep into schools, communities, enterprises, etc. to carry out emergency rescue training, with a total of more than 200 trainings, 968 hours of volunteer service, and the training has benefited more than 30,000 people.
"After some trainees participated in the training, their family members benefited from the first aid knowledge he had learned and won valuable time for rescue. Shen Yonggang said with relief.
Under the influence of Shen Yonggang, the 120 Emergency Rescue Center of the Sixth Division Hospital set up a Red Cross Volunteer Service Team, and all members of the Emergency Rescue Center joined it.
Shen Yonggang left a deep footprint on the road of fulfilling the volunteer mission of the Red Cross, he served the patients with his love and original intention, warmed and touched the people around him, and made the Nightingale spirit shine. In 2021 and 2022, Shen Yonggang was successively rated as an outstanding volunteer of the Red Cross Society of China and an advanced model of volunteer service of the National Red Cross Society.
"In 2024, I plan to lead the volunteers of the department to train more ambulance workers, pass on the humanitarian spirit, spread the first aid skills, and let more people learn first aid knowledge. Shen Yonggang said firmly.
