Class!All stand up~

Hello everyone and welcome to the Frog Color Official Series Panorama Photography Course!

Photographic equipment is a precision instrument, which will wear out, age, and accumulate dust during use. If you do not clean and maintain the photographic equipment, oil, dust, and water stains will not only greatly shorten the service life of the camera lens, but also affect the quality of the photos.

1. Cleaning

Commonly used maintenance and cleaning tools include air blowers, brushes, cotton swabs, lens paper, suede cloths, special lens cleaning liquids, etc.

Camera sensor cleaning

When you take the lens off the camera, you will occasionally find that there is always some dust on the sensor or reflector that lures you and makes you want to blow the dust away, but in fact, doing so is likely to cause your saliva to fall on the sensor, and then the camera has another layer of contamination. So resist the urge to find an air blower specifically designed for camera cleaning to handle the dust.

As a cleaning tool designed specifically for sensors, air blowing cleans sensor dust very quickly, but be prepared that dust will always only be blown into the camera, and even if they are blown away from the sensor, they will always stay inside the camera. However, as long as it doesn't affect the photo quality. So, when cleaning the inside of the camera with an air blower, be careful to keep the camera lens mount facing down and try to expel as much dust as possible.

Generally, because the camera sensor is valuable and delicate, we only encourage everyone to use an air blower to do a basic cleaning of the camera sensor, if the camera sensor accidentally gets some stubborn stains, please bring the camera to a professional camera repair center for maintenance.

Lens cleaning

To clean the lens of the lens, be sure to use an air blower to blow off the dust and hard particles on the lens to avoid damage to the lens caused by the hard particles left on the lens when wiping. After blowing it off with an air blower, use a lens cloth with a lens cleaner for a deep clean. Wrap a cleaning cloth stained with lens agent around your fingers and wipe it outward from the center of the lens in the same direction with even force and spiral at a constant speed.

The same is true for the rear lens group, but due to the flange distance of the camera, the rear lens of some lenses is deep inside the bayonet and is difficult to clean by hand. At this point, the microfiber lens cloth is dripped with lens cleaner, and then the lens cloth is wrapped around a cleaning swab to penetrate deep into the lens back group for lens cleaning.

As for the dust inside the lens, it is not recommended to clean it yourself. Because this generally involves dismantling the camera, the lens itself is not completely sealed, and it is inevitable to enter a trace amount of dust, and the impact of fine dust on the light transmission of the lens is negligible, and it cannot affect the imaging of the camera.

And each lens has been debugged at the time of delivery, rashly disassembled and cleaned will destroy the precise structure, resulting in common optical axis malformation, and it is recommended to send it to the manufacturer for after-sales treatment if it really needs to be cleaned.

2. Moisture-proof

If the equipment is not properly maintained, it is very easy to get dust, mold, or various damages, causing great damage to the imaging of the camera, so we must take good care of the lens.

In the case of mold, for example, mild mildew may have little or no effect on imaging at the edges. The more serious mold may reduce the sharpness of the lens and reduce the contrast. In severe cases, it may even leave the entire lens blank and completely unimpossible. Therefore, in order to protect the lens, some daily and capable maintenance work must be carried out.

Nowadays, the lens surface of the lens has a coating, which is very delicate and afraid of mildew. Mold produces punctate or filamentous mildew on the surface of the lens, which affects the light transmittance and imaging performance of the lens, and in serious cases, it will lead to the scrapping of the lens, so mold is the killer of camera photographic equipment.

Of course, in addition to mold, moisture is also a potential killer, when the camera equipment is in a humid environment for a long time, the electronic devices inside the camera equipment will be affected, accelerate the aging of integrated circuits, affect the life of the display screen, etc. In this way, it is very necessary to do a good job of moisture and mildew prevention for cameras, lenses and other equipment, especially in the wet spring

Season.

Electronic moisture-proof box

The electronic moisture-proof box is suitable for storing cameras and lenses, the partition design in the electronic moisture-proof box can facilitate the neat placement of multiple cameras, lenses and related accessories, and most of the electronic moisture-proof boxes are also equipped with anti-theft locks. Although it is slightly more expensive than a regular sealed moisture barrier, in the long run, the electronic moisture barrier will save you a lot of time and money on replacing and buying moisture barriers.

The electronic moisture-proof box uses a dehumidifier or memory alloy to discharge the water vapor in the closed storage space to achieve a constant humidity. A higher level of electronic moisture barrier can also control the humidity to be achieved. The cheaper ones don't have humidity control and have a more rudimentary design. Remind everyone that the environment of the moisture-proof box is not as dry as possible, the humidity suitable for camera storage is about 40-50%, if it is adjusted too low, the lubricant on some parts will dry out!

3. Accessories

Air Blowing:

It is mainly used to blow off the dust and debris on the lens, which is the first step to clean the lens, be sure to blow off the dust with an ear blower before wiping it with lens paper, otherwise it will scratch the lens.

Brushes:

It is used to deal with the stubborn dust on the surface of the lens or LCD, because the wool brush is very soft, so it is more suitable for cleaning the lens, but do not think that it is very soft and can be used too hard, but should be swept gently. This kind of thing can only be found in the photography supply store, when choosing must find the kind of wool without stray hair, very soft, and in the process of use, you can not touch the end of the wool pen with your hands, otherwise the sweat stains on your hands will stick to the lens, which is very difficult to clean.

Lens Paper:

This is the main weapon used to scrub the lens, pay attention to two points when using lens paper, one is to move gently, and to wipe from the center of the lens, slowly wipe to the outer ring in a spiral shape, check it after wiping, if you don't wipe it clean, you must change the paper to scrub, otherwise the dust on the paper will pollute the lens again. Second, it is necessary to pay attention not to get too much lens cleaning liquid, and to moisten the paper, otherwise too much lens fluid will flow down the gap of the lens into the lens.

Lens paper must be bought well, inferior lens paper fibers are too hard, and may carry a lot of impurities, which will damage the lens.

Chamois:

Suede doesn't shed fibers, and it's very soft, you can gently fold it up and scrub the lenses with cleaning solution when you use it, and the operation method is the same as using lens paper, but the suede cloth is more expensive, but it's really easy to use.

This thing is sold in the photographic equipment store, when choosing, you should choose the same kind without impurities, the texture is very soft, good quality suede should be a very natural leather yellow, if the color looks unnatural, it is mostly dyed for the sake of good looks, do not use it, otherwise the solvent in the lens cleaning solution will dissolve the dye, so you unknowingly add a color filter in front of the lens.

Lens Cleaning Solution:

In fact, the main component of the lens cleaning solution is the solvent, the main function is to dissolve the organic matter on the lens, such as: sweat, fingerprints or oil stains, etc., if you really don't have it, you can also use absolute ethanol for chemical experiments, remember, if you want to use absolute ethanol, you must buy a regular one, and it is the kind of analytical purity of more than 99%, otherwise it will damage the lens. In addition, the use of this thing is limited to the lens or LCD screen, and the cleaning liquid should not be used too much, otherwise it will flow to the inside of the lens and affect the mechanical properties of the lens.
