This is an international photography and photography competition, which aims to provide a platform for professional and amateur photographers and video creators to interact and promote the enrichment and development of image culture. Since its inception in 1969, more than half a century has been attended by photographers from all over the world and video creators from more recent years. In the last 39th edition, a total of 35,000 participants from 180 countries and regions around the world submitted more than 70,000 entries.
In the 40th edition of the competition, the name of the contest has been officially changed from "Nikon Photo Contest" to "Nikon Image and Photo Contest", reflecting the growing interest of photographers and video makers in the competition. In addition, the logo has been redesigned to convey the core idea of the competition, which is to bring together diverse creative perspectives.

We are honored to once again invite Sarah · Lean to be the chief judge of the Nikon Image and Photo Contest 2024-2025. In 2013, Sarah · became the first female director of photography for National Geographic and National Geographic partners. In 2020, she founded VisualThinkingCollective, a group of female editors, teachers, and curators focused on the creation and management of visual projects. Summary of the Nikon Image and Photo Contest 2024-2025
The Nikon Image & Photo Contest 2024-2025 is the 40th edition of the contest since its launch, and will consist of two parts: a short video category competition and a photo category competition. The short video category includes ultra-short films and 5-minute short films, while the photo category includes single photos and photographic narratives.
The theme of this year's competition is "Inspire" in both the short video category and the photo category. We want to see work that inspires new perspectives and emotions.
The winners of the Nikon Image and Photo Contest 2024-2025 will be announced in September 2025.

Judging of awards, prizes and winning works
There will be one grand prize in each of the two categories. In addition, 2 Excellence Awards and 3 Special Encouragement Awards will be awarded for each competition. There will also be a public vote on the entries that make it to the second round of judging to determine the winning entries of the Public Award.
