Forty-one years later, the details of the people who had been involved in the identification of how he died were revealed, which was distressing.
Years of wish come true
On January 8, 1960, a military train slowly stopped at the railway station in Yingkou, Liaoning. The car was filled with passionate and energetic recruits who had just joined the army and were about to start their military careers.
After getting out of the car, they rushed to the barracks again.
As is customary, the troops held a welcome meeting for the recruits that evening. When it was the turn of the new recruits to take the stage to speak, I saw a soldier who was not very tall and even a little thin walked up to the rostrum.
He held the speech in his hand, looking a little nervous, and because the microphone was taller than himself, he showed a little embarrassment. Chen Guangsheng, director of the Youth League Club, who was responsible for presiding over the welcome party, hurriedly came over to relieve the siege and adjusted the height of the microphone.
This soldier is none other than Lei Feng, who is only 20 years old. When everything was ready, he became calm, put away his manuscript, and began to give an impromptu speech.
He said that everyone comes from different industries and different places, but they have a common wish, that is, to learn skills to protect their families and defend the country.
He told a lot of truths, which caused the soldiers in the audience to laugh.
Looking at his comrades-in-arms in military uniforms and the environment he was in, Lei Feng had a lot of feelings, and his wish to be a soldier for many years finally came true today.
He was born in Changsha in 1940 to a poor family. His grandfather, grandmother, parents, elder brother, and younger brother passed away for various reasons, and he was lonely at the age of seven.
If he hadn't been taken in by his relatives and raised, he would not have survived in those difficult times.
Since he was a child, he has experienced the exploitation of his family by landlords, the oppression and bullying of the Japanese and the Kuomintang, so that Lei Feng, like other ordinary people in Hunan, is extremely looking forward to the early arrival of the People's Liberation Army.
In August 1949, Hunan was liberated, and the locals looked forward to the arrival of the People's Liberation Army.
So, he wanted to join the army, like a soldier of the People's Liberation Army, to defend his family and the country, and to help people in suffering.
This is Lei Feng's first application to be a soldier, but his age is too young, coupled with long-term malnutrition, his body is very thin.
He was politely refused, but was given a pen from a company commander.
Although he failed to enlist in the army, his contact with the People's Liberation Army allowed Lei Feng to see a different world and planted a positive seed in his heart.
After that, while learning about culture, he planned to sign up for the army, but failed several times.
Even after working in 1958, he still did not forget it.
At the beginning of 1960, Lei Feng filled out the application form for enlistment again.
Originally, he didn't have a political trial form, so it was difficult for him to succeed. Fortunately, veteran Yu Xinyuan proved to the relevant departments that he was a positive and outstanding young man, and let him be approved to enlist in the army eight hours before the military was issued.
Through the welcome party, everyone left a deep impression on Lei Feng. And in their daily interactions, they thoroughly understand what kind of person Lei Feng is.
Helpful, sacrificed in the line of duty
After entering the army, Lei Feng was still helpful and excellent in all aspects. What everyone didn't expect was that he died in the line of duty in 1962, and the relevant details were not disclosed by insiders until 41 years later.
After the special training for recruits, Lei Feng was assigned to the transportation company.
Before enlisting in the army, he donated all the land allocated by the public family to the primary school, and when he entered the Wangcheng County Party Committee, he and his colleagues actively responded to the call and donated 20 yuan to let the local people own a tractor.
He then actively learned how to operate and drive a tractor and published his first article, "I Learned to Drive a Tractor".
In the army, he continued to carry forward the spirit of selfless dedication and daring to be the first.
Knowing that there was a flood in Liaoyang, he did not hesitate to take out all his savings and allowances and donated 100 yuan to the disaster area.
These money was not a small amount at that time, and Lei Feng's monthly allowance was only 6 yuan. Even so, he donated all his money.
Originally, the army was going to issue two sets of new uniforms, but he offered to receive only one set, saying that the saved uniforms could be given to more people in need.
His clothes are always patched, never "disgusted" or uncomfortable, and the money he spends on other people.
In his free time, he is either studying, or helping his comrades with laundry, etc., doing what he can.
Lei Feng is like a "big parent", caring about every soldier, in fact, he is not very old.
In addition, when he encountered ordinary people who needed help during the mission, he was always the first to rush over to help.
Of course, he was also an example for the soldiers of the whole regiment to follow.
He trained hard and got great results. In the process of emergency rescue and flood fighting, even when he was sick, he did not stop, and fought for seven days and seven nights in a row, becoming the first soldier among the recruits to be awarded a third-class meritorious service.
Lei Feng was among the best in all aspects, and was rated as a "saving pacesetter" by the army who worked hard, and called on everyone to keep up with him. He kept "serving the people" firmly in mind and took practical actions for it.
He always has a smile on his face, a lively and cheerful personality, and a very good relationship with his comrades.
Therefore, his sudden death made them very sad and difficult to accept.
Near noon on August 15, 1962, Lei Feng and his comrade-in-arms Qiao Anshan were unfortunately injured in the process of performing a mission in Fushun Wanghua District, and died due to ineffective rescue.
After learning the bad news, every soldier in the unit was very sad. Not only them, but also the local people.
On August 17, the common people saw more than 20 trucks carrying wreaths and PLA soldiers on the streets, and military motorcycles opened the way, and the sound of mourning and music resounded in the sky.
They couldn't help but ask who they were sending, and after hearing that it was Lei Feng, they all joined the funeral procession with tears in their eyes, or stood on both sides of the road to see him off for the last time.
People spread the word of mouth, and more and more people saw them off, and the scale was unprecedented.
This is enough to show Lei Feng's status in the hearts of the people, and after his sacrifice, everyone is particularly sorry.
At the same time, learning Lei Feng's slogan gradually appeared all over the country.
Although he is gone, his spirit lives on!
The appraiser discloses the details of the sacrifice
When Lei Feng died 41 years later, Shi Baoguang, one of the accident experts, disclosed the details of the accident, which was moving.
On August 15, 1962, Shi Baoguang, then a lieutenant assistant in the Security Department of the Political Department of the Shenyang Military Region's Engineering Corps, received a notice that Lei Feng had passed away because of an accident.
They immediately rushed to the scene of the incident in a jeep, and when they arrived, they found that there were very few people at the scene, and most of the fighters were still working and had not returned to the camp.
In order to find the truth, we must first understand the situation. They approached the troops and listened to the relevant reports.
Then, Shi Baoguang and the others found another accident witness, Qiao Anshan, and only he knew best what happened at that time.
Perhaps afraid that they were coming to arrest him, Qiao Anshan panicked.
After the two expressed their intentions, they asked Qiao Baoshan to tell and reproduce the accident, and he explained them one by one.
At that time, Lei Feng was driving the "Gas" truck, and he sat in the co-pilot to come back from completing the task, intending to wash the car so that he could set off faster in the afternoon.
So, they came to the vicinity of the barracks of the Ninth Company. If you want to wash your car, you need to drive it to the place where the cooking class is located.
It just so happened that the narrow junction was somewhat blocked by clothes poles made of wood and wire, and they had to turn into the road.
But this is not easy to complete, the road is not wide, the truck is not small, and it has to be operated many times.
In view of this, Lei Feng went to the left front of the car to direct how to drive, and Qiao Anshan was responsible for driving.
It didn't take long for him to hear a click and have a premonition that something might be happening. He looked back, and the scene was forever unforgettable. I saw that the wooden pole was broken, and Lei Feng fell to the ground.
Qiao Anshan hurriedly stopped, and seeing that Lei Feng's condition was very serious, he hurriedly shouted for help.
After understanding the incident, combined with the results given by the doctor: Lei Feng was killed because his right temple was hit hard by a wooden pole, resulting in a skull fracture and massive intracranial hemorrhage, Shi Baoguang and his colleagues conducted a careful investigation of the scene.
Eventually, they came to a conclusion:
The intersection is high on the left and low on the right, Lei Feng and Qiao Anshan have blind spots, and they can't find problems.
The bulky truck came in with a tilt and squeezed the bulge of the wood buried in the soil, causing the wood to break off from its roots. Due to the pulling force of the wire, the wood on the ground rushed towards Lei Feng and hit him on the head.
The two believed that it was an accident and that no one had done it on purpose, and initially determined it, and then the superiors approved and approved it.
Unexpectedly, Lei Feng lost his young and precious life because of a small piece of wood, how can people not grieve and regret?
They went to the hospital to see Lei Feng's body, and Shi Baoguang specially bought a few large ice bricks and put them under him to preserve the body.
Later, he personally held Lei Feng's head and put the body into the coffin with other comrades-in-arms.
After Lei Feng's death, Chairman Mao, Premier Zhou, President Zhu, Deng Gong and other leaders all wrote inscriptions for him to mourn and cherish his memory.
In March 1963, Chairman Mao's inscription "Learn from Comrade Lei Feng" was published in the newspaper, encouraging the people of the whole country to learn from Lei Feng.
"The world kisses me with pain, and I want to repay it with a song", this is a portrayal of Comrade Lei Feng's life.
Although he has experienced many hardships since he was a child, he has never forgotten to bring goodwill and beauty to the world in his short life.
