In 1983, Journey to the West director Yang Jie wrote lyrics to composer Xu Jingqing and asked him to help compose the soundtrack for this play.

Because Xu Jingqing wanted to organize a concert with the theme of "Journey to the West" at that time, he strongly invited Jiang Dawei to participate, but he tried various contact methods but did not get a response from the other party.
