Diamond refers to polished diamond, which is an elemental crystal composed of the element carbon.

Diamond is an elemental crystal composed of carbon elements formed under high pressure (pressure between 4.5-6.0 Gpa) and high temperature (1100-1500 °C) in the deep part of the earth.

Diamond has the same elemental composition as coal and graphite, both of which are composed of the element carbon. But diamond is transparent, while coal and graphite are opaque. Diamonds made from diamonds are the most popular gemstones, coal has been the main fuel for centuries, and graphene (the single-layer structure of graphite) is a very important new energy material developed in recent years.

Pure diamonds are colorless and transparent, with different colors due to the mixing of trace elements.

The hardness of diamonds ranks first among all gemstones, with a hardness of 10 on the Mohs scale, which gives consumers confidence that diamonds can last forever.

The most striking thing about a diamond is the fire effect. In fact, it is to refract white light into rainbow-like colorful light. With the slightest movement of the wearer's hand, a dazzling light is visible and this sparkling brilliance is known as the fire of the diamond. This kind of fire can give people pleasant enjoyment, and it also symbolizes the elegance and wealth of life.

Causes of diamond fire:

Refraction, reflection, scattering work together to produce fire. And how the effect of fire is related to the cut.

The higher the refractive index of a gemstone, the greater its brilliance. The higher the dispersion value of the gemstone, the better the fire effect.

Gemstone Species: Refractive Index, Dispersion

Rutile 2.616-2.903 0.30

Diamond 2.42 0.044

Ruby 1.77 0.018

祖母绿 1.58 0.014

水晶 1.544 0.013

As you can see from the table above, diamonds have very high refractive index and dispersion values. Only a few gemstones, such as rutile, are taller.

The cut of a diamond has a great impact on fire.

Cut refers to the geometry and arrangement of various facets of the finished loose diamond, including cutting proportion, polishing and finish.

Each item has five levels, from highest to lowest, for the ideal cut

EXCELLENT: This cut allows the diamond to reflect almost all of the light that enters the diamond, and is considered an outstanding cut.

VERY GOOD: ALLOWS THE DIAMOND TO REFLECT THE SAME BRILLIANCE AS THE STANDARD CUT.

GOOD: Able to reflect most of the light that goes into the inside of the drill.

General Cut (FAIR): Reflects less light than a G cut.

POOR: THIS INCLUDES ALL DIAMONDS THAT DO NOT MEET THE GENERAL CUT CRITERIA, AND THESE DIAMONDS ARE CUT EITHER DEEP AND NARROW OR SHALLOW AND WIDE, ALLOWING LIGHT TO ESCAPE FROM THE EDGES OR BOTTOM.
