Tribute to the heroes of the story behind the movie "Garland Under the Mountain".

1. The realistic version of "Little Beijing" and "Captain Lei".

In the self-defense and counterattack against Vietnam, many fathers and sons of high-ranking cadres went into battle and jointly composed magnificent poems that made people's blood boil.

In the 1984 self-defense counterattack film "Garland Under the Mountain" against Vietnam, there is an admirable father and son soldiers.

Viewers who have watched this film will definitely remember a small character in the play - "Little Beijing".

His father, "Commander Lei", is an upright veteran who dares to "throw his military hat" and slap the table against unhealthy trends.

Director Xie Jin left a suspense for the audience, and it was not until after the glorious sacrifice of "Little Beijing" that the plot disclosed the father-son relationship between "Little Beijing" and "Captain Lei".

The movie "Garland Under the Mountain" is adapted from the novel by military writer Li Cunbao.

In order to ensure the sense of the times and realism of the film to the greatest extent, under the premise of obtaining the permission of the military, director Xie Jin led the crew to the real Sino-Vietnamese battlefield for filming.

In addition to infantry, there are also artillery, tank troops, engineering troops, aviation troops, and so on.

A large number of battle scenes in the film highly restore the real battlefield scene, and some of the clips are even like a documentary.

To date, "Garland Under the Mountain" is still the most classic film of its kind.

Because the storyline is real and touching, and the characters are lifelike, the film quickly became popular all over the country once it was released.

When creating the characters of "Little Beijing" and "Captain Lei Jun", Li Cunbao referred to the deeds of many real people.

(1) The prototype of the wreath under the high mountain: The division commander personally sent his son to the front line of the war against Vietnam and died heroically.

In the early 80s of the 20th century, Li Cunbao's "Wreath Under the High Mountain" was based on a group of heroes who fought in southern Xinjiang, describing the story of a certain Ninth Company before and after the war, which aroused the strongest response from people.

People who have read this masterpiece are all moved by the deeds of the 70-year-old mother who sent her son to the front line, and there is also an important plot in it: Before the war, the "wife" of a high-ranking official called the command post of Commander Lei on the front line, asking that her son, who was a soldier in the unit, be transferred to a safer unit in the rear.

The novel is fictional, but similar things did happen to a small number of troops back then, and the impact was very bad. However, the officers and men of the 54th Army are diametrically opposed, the army commander Han Huaizhi and the commander of the Tiger Division Li Jiulong are like the "old mother" in the novel to send their sons to the front line, righteous and brave, exemplary.

In January 1979, after the Central Military Commission issued an advance order for self-defense and counterattack operations in southern Xinjiang, one morning, the four regiment commanders of the 162nd Division of the Tiger Division went to the military headquarters with division commander Li Jiulong to receive the task. On the battlefield, he is just a soldier under you, and he is no longer the son of a military commander! You must treat him like any other officer and soldier, and you must not be the slightest special!"

Han Dongjun is the son of Han Huaizhi, who originally worked in the political department of the division, but before the war, he went down to the artillery regiment and served as the head of the security unit in the political department. At this time, Han Huaizhi put his son from the division to the front-line combat unit that was charging into battle, which was to set an example, which was a great encouragement to the officers and soldiers of the whole regiment!

Although Zhong Shengqin felt some pressure, he immediately stood up and expressed his attitude to the army commander: "Please rest assured, with my understanding of the Eastern Army, he has a good mind and is professional, and he will definitely be able to give you a satisfactory answer when he goes to the battlefield." ”

Subsequently, Han Dongjun operated on the front line with the command post of the combat artillery regiment.

In order to ensure victory in the task of self-defense and counterattack in southern Xinjiang this time, morale is the most important factor, apart from some other factors. Because the troops have not fought in a peaceful environment for many years, there will be some worries from top to bottom.

How to arouse the high morale of officers and men and enable them to go to the battlefield with the conviction of victory is of great importance. After the news of Han Huaizhi's pre-war son spread, Zhang Zhixin, commander of the 160th Division, resolutely sent his only son Zhang Zhang to participate in the war.

The war was ruthless, but the leading cadres of the 54th Army showed an admirable and noble character by sending their sons to the front before the war. And Jiangmen has no dogs, these new generation of soldiers, when they arrive on the battlefield, they are completely like their fathers, and after the battle starts, they are brave, witty, and see death as home.

Zhang Zhixin's son, Zhang Li, was not afraid of hardship or sacrifice when he was carrying out reconnaissance missions, and he was always on the front line. On the morning of 27 February, while conducting reconnaissance on the 267th Heights, he was suddenly attacked by enemy fire and was seriously wounded.

Because it can't get out of the deep mountains and jungles, it can't be effectively rescued, so it can only be dealt with in an emergency. An hour later, he knew that he was no longer good, so he said to his comrades-in-arms: "After I sacrificed, please tell my father that my son did not disgrace him, and advised my father not to be sad and to take care of his mother!"

When this news was reported to the military headquarters, Division Commander Zhang himself did not know that he was commanding the 160th Division on the front line.

After Han Huaizhi learned the news, he immediately said to Deputy Army Commander Wang Yingzhou: "You take a reconnaissance platoon and personally go to the command post of the 160th Division, let him firmly command, and the child's funeral will be handled later." ”

Wang Yingzhou walked with the reconnaissance platoon for three hours overnight, arrived at the command post of the 160th Division, and then sent a telegram to the army commander: "I have arrived at the command post of a certain division and am talking with Division Commander Zhang. ”

Han Huaizhi called back: "Do it as planned." ”

So, Wang Yingzhou told Zhang Zhixin the news of Zhang Li's sacrifice, and finally said: "The army commander cares about you very much and lets you command firmly." ”

Zhang Zhixin replied heroically: "The son who sacrificed others is a son, and the son who sacrificed me is also a son, and they are all my good subordinates." You send a telegram to the commander, please rest assured!"

Master Zhang did not shed a single tear. However, this situation moved Deputy Army Commander Wang Yingzhou, who had never cried when he blew up one of his arms, to tears.

Subsequently, Zhang Zhixin suppressed his grief in the bottom of his heart and, as always, commanded the 160th Division to advance, winning one battle after another.

Han Dongjun, the son of Commander Han Huaizhi, who was also sent to the battlefield, was not a bad breed. On the battlefield, like ordinary soldiers, he endured the baptism of blood and fire, life and death, and as the head of the security unit, in addition to being responsible for guarding the target, he also took a squad to participate in the battle at one time and blew up a cantonment hole of the other side. After the war, the security unit he was in charge of was awarded the collective third-class meritorious service.

On April 3, Wang Zhen, head of the Central Condolence Group and Vice Premier who went to the front line to express condolences, came to the 54th Army, and when he visited the 160th Division, he tightly held the hand of Division Commander Zhang Zhixin and said: "You have fought a good battle, the party's true colors have been maintained well, and the motherland and the people thank you!"

At the beginning of February 1979, the 54th Army was given the task of going to southern Xinjiang for self-defense and counterattack. Commander Han Huaizhi went to the Wuhan Military Region for a meeting. At this time, Tian Jingrong, deputy commander of the 162nd Division, was hospitalized in Wuhan, and according to the preliminary examination, it was stomach cancer. After the meeting was adjourned, there was still more than an hour before the departure time of the train to return to the troops, and Han Huaizhi and Xia Fansheng, secretary of the military party committee, hurried to the hospital to visit him.

When Deputy Division Commander Tian Jingrong saw that the army commander had come to see him, he sat up with a strong spirit. After a few words of greeting, he said what he had prepared in advance: "Commander, you have watched me grow up from a poor boy. ”

“嗯,这没错。 ”韩怀智回答。

"I can have where I am today because of the party's education and training. Tian Jingrong said.

"Well, that's right, we should all do that. Han Huaizhi affirmed his words.

"Now that the country is in trouble, the troops are going to the front, and I beg the organization not to leave me in this hospital bed. ”

"You're sick, recuperate in the hospital. Han Huaizhi said.

"Commander, you let me go to the battlefield, and I can still do a little bit of what I can. ”

Han Huaizhi said: "Lao Tian, curing the disease is also the task assigned to you by the organization, you must cooperate with the doctor to cure it, and we will come to see you after the battle." ”

At this time, Deputy Division Commander Tian became excited, held the commander's hand with both hands, and said persistently: "Commander, you must agree to my request, if you don't agree, I will die faster." I am not willing to die in the hospital bed, and if you agree to my request, it may be good for the body, and I will be in a happy mood, and my illness will get better quickly. ”

When he said this, tears flashed in his eyes, and the commander was really in a dilemma. But Han Huaizhi knew the character of this old subordinate, and after thinking about it for a while, he had to reluctantly agree to him: "Yes, the people cultivated by the party should die on the battlefield of sacrificing their lives for the country." ”

When he returned to the army, he immediately called Li Jiulong, the commander of the 162nd Division, and Dong Huaizhong, the political commissar of the division: "Arrange for Deputy Division Commander Tian to go out with illness." ”

"He's going to lead his troops into battle? Division Commander Li Jiulong said in surprise.

"Yes. Han Huaizhi said.

"He's sick like this......"

"He is a revolutionary soldier, and it is his honor to die on the battlefield, so let his wish be fulfilled. Han Huaizhi's eyes were filled with tears, and he said in a trembling voice: "You must take care of Deputy Division Commander Tian!"

As a result, Deputy Division Commander Tian returned to the army as he wished and set out for the expedition despite illness. When commanding operations, he endured the erosion of illness from time to time, but he commanded one victory after another, showing his true character as a soldier. Whenever they commanded the charge, the soldiers thought of the deputy division commander insisting on commanding despite his illness, and their hearts were full of fighting spirit.

Deputy Division Commander Tian Jingrong's stomach disease was very serious, and he had already been diagnosed with stomach cancer, but unexpectedly, after the baptism on the battlefield, Deputy Division Commander Tian's cancer really cured on its own. Years later, Commander Han Huaizhi had died, but he was still alive.

When recalling Commander Han Huaizhi, he said with great emotion: "I am really blessed to have met such a good leader in my life! It is not terrible to get any illness in the 54th Army!"

(2) "Little Beijing" - Tension Prototype

The archetypal character of "Little Beijing" is mainly borrowed from the martyr Zhang Li, who is the son of Zhang Zhixin, the commander of the 160th Division of the 54th Army of the People's Liberation Army.

Zhang Zhang is Zhang Zhixin's only child. When Zhang Zhixin was 30 years old, he was happy with his son, and he was naturally pampered.

However, soldiers have their own unique "pampering" logic, and after Zhang Zhang grew up, Zhang Zhixin sent him to his old army as a soldier.

Before Zhang Li went to the army, Zhang Zhixin called his comrades-in-arms in the old unit and repeatedly instructed: "Don't take any care of him, I have only one request -- train him as hard as he wants!"

Regarding tension, Zhang Zhixin's thousands of words were combined into one sentence: "Don't embarrass your son." ”

As the saying goes, "a tiger father has no dog", Zhang Zhang really did not disappoint his father, and soon after joining the army, Zhang Zhang became the training pacesetter of the whole division.

On February 23, 1979, Zhang Zhixin led the 160th Division into the Guangxi front line to participate in the war, and his only son Zhang Zhang was also in the ranks of the front line.

Because he was busy preparing for the war, Zhang Zhixin hadn't seen his son for more than half a year.

On 27 February, Li Zhaogui, political commissar of the 160th Division, suddenly received news: During the battle of attacking Gaoping, the reconnaissance platoon of the special service company of the 478th Regiment encountered the Vietnamese army unexpectedly while reconnoitring the enemy situation on the 267th height.

In the sudden battle, the deputy squad leader Zhang Li was seriously injured and seriously injured.

Because he could not carry out effective rescue, let alone send him back to the rear for rescue, the 22-year-old Zhang Zhang finally died of excessive bleeding.

Political Commissar Li Zhaogui learned that Zhang Li left such last words before his death: "Please tell my father that his son did not disgrace him, and persuade him not to be sad and take care of my mother." ”

"My father is Zhang Zhixin, the commander of the 160th Division. After saying this, Zhang Li's eyes closed forever.

It was only at this time that the comrades-in-arms in the same class knew that their deputy squad leader was actually the son of division commander Zhang Zhixin......

Political Commissar Li Zhaogui tried to restrain his emotions, and at this time, as a political commissar, he must be calm, calm, and calm.

Political Commissar Li Zhaogui has seen Zhang Li, and he also likes this lively and lovely young man, and he knows that Zhang Zhang is his father's "heart".

In the impression of political commissar Li Zhaogui, whenever tension is mentioned, Zhang Zhixin is always smiling, with unconcealed pride and undisguised pride on his face.

Political Commissar Li Zhaogui knew that for Division Commander Zhang Zhixin, his son's sacrifice would be a calm blow to him, and the 160th Division was at a critical moment of advancing in depth.

"We can't let this news interfere with the division commander!" Political Commissar Li Zhaogui gritted his teeth and made a decision - to conceal the news for the time being.

He immediately gathered the personnel who knew the news together and solemnly announced a discipline: "If anyone leaks this news to Division Commander Zhang, military justice will be punished!"

However, Zhang Zhixin was still sensitively aware of something unusual.

Under the repeated urging of Zhang Zhixin, political commissar Li Zhaogui could only tell the truth.

Hearing the news of his son's sacrifice, Zhang Zhixin was stunned for a while.

After a full three minutes, Zhang Zhixin came back to his senses.

He tried his best to control his sadness, muttering to himself: "Where there is war, there will be sacrifice, so many good children sacrificed on the battlefield, Zhang Li is just one of them, he died well for the country." ”

After that, Zhang Zhixin returned to the command position, buried the pain of losing his son deep in his heart, calmly commanded the whole division, and brilliantly completed the next combat mission.

Due to limited conditions, Zhang Li's body could only be cremated on the spot, and after the battle, his comrades-in-arms brought back some of his ashes and handed them over to Zhang Zhixin.

After the war, Zhang Zhixin had to tell his wife the news of his son's sacrifice.

The hero's mother was heartbroken, Zhang Zhixin could no longer control his emotions, his eyes were red, but he did not let the tears fall.

After a long delay, Zhang Zhixin said to his wife: "War is like this, the party and the people have handed over so many outstanding sons and daughters to me, and I am responsible for them." ”

"Our son is good, we should be proud!"

Martyr Zhang Zhang was later posthumously awarded second-class merit, and his ashes were buried in the martyrs' cemetery in Jingxi, Guangxi.

"Fight tiger brothers, go into battle father and son soldiers", in that war that taught the "white-eyed wolf", there were many fathers like Zhang Zhixin, who went to the battlefield with their children without hesitation.

For example, Jiang Xieyuan, deputy commander of the Guangzhou Military Region, and Zhang Xudeng, commander of the 41st Army of the Guangzhou Military Region, were both senior commanders of this war, and among the thousands of troops they commanded were their sons and nephews;

For another example, because of the temporary change of generals, Wang Bicheng, former commander of the Kunming Military Region, painfully lost the opportunity to command this self-defense and counterattack operation.

However, he sent a son, a daughter and a pregnant daughter-in-law to the front, and the general said: "I can't go to war, but our family has three and a half people to fight, and this wish can be fulfilled, and this will be clear!"

In March 2009, Zhang Zhixin took his wife to the Jingxi Martyrs Cemetery to sweep the grave of their beloved son who was buried here.

At this time, Zhang Zhixin was already seriously ill.

Here, Zhang Zhixin and his wife met many gray-haired old people.

At this point, a picture from "Garland Under the Mountain" comes to mind:

In the martyr's cemetery, the white-haired "Commander Lei" looked solemn and sad.

He clasped the hands of another martyr's mother, whose son was called "Liang Sanxi......

Four years later, Zhang Zhixin passed away and was finally reunited with his beloved son in heaven.

"Didn't embarrass Dad" let us thank Director Xie Jin, it was he who let us know "Captain Lei" and "Little Beijing".

We should remember Zhang Zhang and Zhang Zhixin, the "father and son soldiers", and remember all the heroes and martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the country.

May the martyrs rest in peace and may future generations always remember their names!

2. The prototype of Liang Sanxi in "Garland Under the Mountain".

(1) Liang Sanxi's experience may be a mixture of a series of real-life characters, and it is not just based on one person. Of course, the reference of the martyr Wang Fakun is the most.

On Douban, a popular film and television evaluation platform, there is a unique war movie called "Garland Under the Mountain". It breaks the traditional creative mode, integrates more human thinking, reduces the traces of ideology, and enables the audience to truly experience the military life in the eighties of the last century, becoming an eternal classic.

Next, let's explore the story behind "Garland Under the Mountain" and its character archetypes.

The Background of the Literary Novel "Wreath Under the Mountain" and Its Early Repercussions Li Cunbao is a well-known writer on military themes, and his work "Wreath Under the Mountain" was originally published in the "People's Liberation Army Literature and Art", which aroused strong resonance within the army.

The novel was widely circulated within the army and was circulated among the soldiers. Although it has not yet been widely circulated in society, it has formed a high reputation within the army and has become a literary work known to women and children.

In 1982, a well-known editor with a unique vision, Zhang Shouren, discovered an excellent novel and strongly recommended it to be serialized in October magazine. After this suggestion was adopted, the novel was published on the front page of the first issue, causing a sensation and for a while Luoyang was expensive.

Since then, the novel's fame has grown, attracting the attention of many media outlets, who have reported and reprinted it. Whether it is central or local, the novel "Garland Under the Mountain" has aroused enthusiastic responses, and even the Central People's Radio has begun to use audio for simulcasting.

In the 80s, a whirlwind of "garlands" blew in society, injecting a dose of cultural strength into the reform.

According to statistics, the novel has been serialized by 74 newspapers, adapted and performed by more than 50 drama troupes, and published a single book by 9 publishing houses at great expense. Among them, the highest printing volume in a single day reached 1.8 million copies, and the final circulation exceeded 10 million.

The author of the novel, Li Cunbao, was invited to the Great Hall of the People to attend a state banquet on September 30, 1984. Subsequently, the novel was adapted into a movie by the famous director Xie Jin, which was widely popular in the north and south of the country, touching hundreds of millions of viewers.

Li Cunbao is a huge success of this novel, he delves into life and creates excellent cultural works in a unique way. Born in 1946 in Huaihe District, Shandong Province, he graduated in 1962 and started farming due to his family's poverty.

Two years later, he was drafted into the army. In 1970, he was transferred to the Political Department of the Jinan Military Region as a creative member of the propaganda team.

The literary creation of the 80s, influenced by the background of the times, was mostly based on the theme of praise, and the space for literary imagination was greatly limited. Ding Fan and Xu Zhiying quoted Kolek's famous words in "The Main Tide of Chinese New Period Novels": "Poets can only innovate within the framework of ideological expectations, and those truly challenging heterogeneous discourses are actually difficult to come out."

This is actually a true portrayal of the cultural atmosphere at that time. Although Li Cunbao was on the front line of the war against Vietnam and had accumulated a large amount of materials, he could only disseminate them in a small area within the army.

It wasn't until the convening of the Literary Symposium in 1982 that some rules and regulations were broken, and Li Cunbao was able to let go of his creation and write a classic work.

"Liang Sanxi" is an iron-blooded and tender character, and Li Cunbao's Liang Sanxi is completely different from the previous heroic images. He is not only courageous and loves his country, but also pays more attention to his family and emotional life.

Liang Sanxi is a flesh-and-blood hero with human touch, and his image breaks the stereotype of the heroes of the past who are ruthless and detached from the fireworks of the world.

Liang Sanxi was born in the Red Revolution Zone and loved his kind and kind mother and gentle and virtuous wife. When his wife was about to give birth, he received a report from the battalion headquarters that he had been allowed to return home to visit his family.

However, due to the dissatisfaction of the new instructor Zhao Mengsheng with his work, the family leave was repeatedly postponed. Later, the troops received orders from their superiors to go to the Yunnan front to participate in the battle.

Liang Sanxi, in order to protect his fighters and for the territorial integrity of the country, did not hesitate to give up family leave.

Before setting out on the expedition, Liang Sanxi wrote a suicide note to his wife Yuxiu. He confessed to his wife and mother that if he died on the battlefield, he hoped that they would use the 550 yuan of the martyr's pension given by the state, plus the money from the sale of pigs by the family, to repay the money he had lent to his comrades-in-arms.

Liang Sanxi also made an unacceptable suggestion to his wife in the letter: "If I really sacrifice, I hope you can remarry, find your own happiness, and don't waste your youth because of my death."

"Liang Sanxi died heroically on the battlefield, leaving his wife with an inheritance of only a military coat, a bill in arrears and a rattle.

In the film, we can deeply feel Liang Sanxi's humanity. He has flesh and blood, and he usually trains and treats his comrades with chivalry and courage, and he seems gentle and elegant.

But Liang Sanxi is not always like this, for example, on the battlefield, seeing that Zhao Mengsheng still has the idea of cowardice before fighting, and even has the idea of escaping, he will also show his iron-blooded side.

The character of Liang Sanxi is uniquely relatable, as if he is an ordinary member of us, a compatriot who has walked out of our midst, which will make people feel that he is very kind.

As a character who came out of the people, Liang Sanxi naturally has a prototype. In an article in the fourth issue of New Observation magazine in 1983, Li Cunbao said sincerely: "Most of the characters and events in 'Garland' have real prototypes.

Including some plots that readers are more concerned about, such as Captain Lei throwing his hat angrily, bloodstained bills, mother-in-law and daughter-in-law using pensions to pay off debts, etc., are all based on real events.

In an in-depth study of the data, we found that Liang Sanxi's image may be derived from multiple real prototypes. Some people believe that he may be Zhang Daquan, the deputy company commander of the 14th Army, some people think that he is the martyr Wang Fakun, the deputy commander of the artillery of the 13th Army, and some people think that he is the martyr Li Qinghai, the commander of the guard company of the 121st Division of the 41st Army.

As a result, Liang's experience may be a mixture of a series of real-life characters, and not just based on one person. Of course, the reference of the martyr Wang Fakun is the most.

On February 17, 1979, martyr Li Qinghai died heroically in a battle to defend him. At that time, he met the enemy in a narrow way during the retreat, and in order to protect his comrades, he shouted: "Everyone disperse, look for a secret machine, and gather again when you hear the code!"

However, just as everyone was about to leave, a grenade suddenly rolled to the ground and began to smoke. At this critical moment, Li Qinghai did not hesitate to push away the two comrades-in-arms around him and protected the grenade with his body.

In the end, the grenade exploded, and only one of the six comrades-in-arms around him was slightly injured, but Li Qinghai died heroically.

There is a hero named Wang Fakun, who joined the army in 1968 and was promoted to deputy company commander two years later. In the spring of 1978, he had decided to return home and found a local job.

However, because of the outbreak of border fighting, he gave up the opportunity to return home, saying to his chief: "The country needs people now, and it is my duty to do so." He thought that if he left at this time, he would be ridiculed by his comrades, no different from deserters.

So, he did not hesitate to go to the front line, and finally died heroically under enemy fire at the age of 31.

When he enlisted in the army in 68, Wang Fakun and his wife Li Jinhua had already made a marriage contract, both of them were born in Xincun Village, Weining County, Bijie City, Guizhou Province, and they were a pair of childhood sweethearts that everyone envied.

When Wang Fakun was about to leave, he said to his wife: "When the pear blossoms bloom in front of the door, I will come back to marry you." In February 1974, Wang Fakun got the opportunity to return to his hometown and held a simple wedding with his wife in Weining's hometown.

However, two years later, Wang Fakun died heroically.

Soon, Li Jinhua received a package from her deceased husband, which included a handwritten letter that read: "If I have an accident, you should find another good match...... My father has passed away, and the family needs to build a house, so I borrowed more than 3,000 yuan from the villagers, and you must pay off the debts for me.

We are dead, but we can't afford to be in debt!"

Li Jinhua's husband Wang Fakun's pension is only more than 500 yuan, which is far from enough to pay off the debt. This makes the burden on Li Jinhua's shoulders even heavier. However, Chinese farmers are the most resilient group, and Li Jinhua remembered her husband's last words, and instead of following her husband's advice and remarrying someone else, she worked hard with her two children, and it took nearly 11 years to pay off all the arrears and fulfill her husband's last wish.

It wasn't until 2009 that a number of media outlets unearthed and reported the story behind the martyr Wang Fakun. Local government departments and the armed logistics department have taken action to help Li Jinhua's family get out of poverty.

In 2016, the Bijie Military Sub-district, the Weining County Government and the Ministry of Armed Forces jointly funded the construction of a two-story building for Li Jinhua. With a total height of 7.5 meters, this small building adopts a three-room and two-row architectural design style, with a simple and square exterior and a transparent interior from north to south, which is both spacious and bright.

This measure not only greatly improved the living conditions of Li Jinhua, but also allowed the Weining County Government to include her in the preferential care for military widows, solving her pension problem.

Li Jinhua has two sons, named Wang Yuanbi and Wang Yuancang. Because they have lived a hard life with their mother since they were young, they lack a high level of education, and their income situation has been unstable, which makes the civil affairs department of Weining County very worried.

So, they decided to help the two sons develop their farming industry, inviting professional agricultural experts to guide them in all aspects of farming and precautions.

The government provided intimate services to assist in contacting local buyers to solve the sales problems of the Wang family's son, and ensure that the annual income of Li Jinhua's family reached 100,000 yuan.

In 2017, Li Jinhua held her two sons in her arms and set off from Weining, and after twists and turns, she arrived at the Pingbian Martyrs Cemetery again. As foreshadowed by the line "See you in the martyr's cemetery" in the movie, the lovers who have been separated from yin and yang reunite again.

Li Jinhua also specially brought a snow-white chrysanthemum and gently placed it in front of the tomb to commemorate her late husband. In front of her husband's grave, Li Jinhua burst into tears, stared at the dark gray tombstone, and said softly: "Fa Kun, my sons and I have come to see you again!"

It's been 38 years, and I miss you so much....... Li Jinhua then told her husband about the current situation: "On Army Day last year, our family moved into a new house, which was built for us by the government, spacious and beautiful.

Everyone has not forgotten you and always wants to help us. There is also a road in the village. Every year during the Qingming Festival and the Spring Festival, well-wishers call us to ask what difficulties we have.

After returning to the cemetery, Li Jinhua did not stop. She still has one last goal in life that she has not achieved - the establishment of the Wang Fakun Martyrs Memorial Hall. So, she vacated a room on the second floor of her western-style building and bought a display case to put Wang Fakun's long-cherished clothes, as well as daily necessities such as pens and porcelain jars used by him during his lifetime.

Li Jinhua even bought items and historical photos of border operations out of his own pocket, which were also placed in the memorial room. Among the many exhibits, Li Jinhua cherishes the most is a marriage certificate between her and Wang Fakun.

For her, this yellowed certificate not only proves the deep affection between the two under the pear blossom tree, but also testifies to her husband's love commitment to her Wang Fakun.

In 2020, the Wang Fakun Martyrs Memorial Hall was set up as a local patriotic education base, and Li Jinhua, who is over 60 years old, took the initiative to take on the important role of docent.

Under the arrangement of the school, the students listened to Grandma Li's affectionate account of the heroic deeds of the martyr Wang Fakun, and many staff members also came to the memorial hall to relive the patriotic spirit of the older generation's fearless sacrifice and selfless dedication.

So far, the elderly Li Jinhua has explained nearly 1,000 times to various groups in society, and the total number of visitors to the memorial hall has exceeded 5,000 people. In an interview with reporters, Li Jinhua said that as long as her physical condition allows, she will always persist and tell the heroic deeds of the martyrs for future generations.

When the reporter was about to leave, news came that Wang Fakun's grandson Wang Mingjian continued his grandfather's footsteps, actively participated in the militia drill in the village, and signed up to join the army in 2020.

On the eve of the Spring Festival, Zhang Donghu, commander of the Bijie Army Division, led his troops to Li Jinhua's home again. Over the years, similar family visits have become the norm in the army, and the driver knows the road to Li Jinhua's home inside out.

Before entering the door, Zhang Donghu gave a standard military salute to Li Jinhua's grandmother, and Li Jinhua also returned a military salute in the same way, and also prepared pre-boiled tea eggs for the visiting leaders.

Li Jinhua expressed her gratitude to the government during the conversation, saying that although she is old, she has a stable life and can make a difference, all thanks to the government's care.

At the time of separation, she enthusiastically sent the guests far away, and also instructed to pay attention to the rough mountain roads and drive carefully. We should respect and cherish the widow of a martyr like Li Jinhua even more, and wish her a long and healthy life.

On February 17, 1979, China sent more than 600,000 troops to fight back against Vietnam. After the war, military writer Li Cunbao's novel "Garland Under the Mountain" was published and adapted into a movie, causing a huge sensation throughout the country.

On February 17, 1979, the prototype of Liang Sanxi, the protagonist of the movie "Garland Under the Mountain", and the deputy commander of the Second Artillery Company of the 115th Regiment of the 39th Division of the 13th Army, martyr Wang Fakun died honorably in the self-defense counterattack against Vietnam.

Before the war, Wang Fakun wrote a suicide note like all the officers and soldiers who went to the front. In the letter, he told his wife Li Jinhua: "If I sacrifice, you can remarry." ”

On the special day of "Tanabata", please let me tell you about the little-known "Pear Blossom Love" of this lovers.

(a)

Haila Township, Weining County, Guizhou Province, is known as the "Haila Peninsula". Wang Fakun and Li Jinhua were born here with an interval of 7 years.

In the past, Hella Township was known as "the place where the heart and lungs will turn red" In the past, Hella Township cultivated slash-and-burn, and men cultivated and women weaved. At that time, Wang Fakun was a cowherd baby with a cool breeze and letters, and Li Jinhua was also slim.

On the night of a "Torch Festival", 16-year-old Li Jinhua embroidered a flower waist band inlaid with flowers, butterflies and birds with silk threads of various colors and gave it to 23-year-old Wang Fakun. After the words of the matchmaker at the behest of their parents, they fell in love.

South of Caiyun, on the bank of the Niulan River. If there is no war, their love should be to grow old with each other.

(b)

Most people who are in love think about each other and look together. After a dusk when the pear blossoms were in full bloom, Wang Fakun thought about it again and again and finally said, "I want to be a soldier."

In 2015, Li Jinhua at 62. Hearing the name of her husband Wang Fakun, Li Jinhua burst into tears.

Li Jinhua has no culture, she doesn't know the righteousness of Leyang's wife, and she hasn't heard of Chen Shimei's ruthlessness, she is just a simple mountain village girl, she just nodded stupidly.

Before joining the army, Wang Fakun and Li Jinhua planted a pear tree in front of Wang's house, and Wang Fakun told Li Jinhua that he would come back to marry her when the pear blossoms were in full bloom.

"Work hard in the army, and take the road you choose well. On the day of departure, Li Jinhua sent Lang to the commune. 3 kilometers away, they walked for a long time. On the way, Wang Fakun repeatedly told her to take care of her parents and write to him when the pear blossoms bloomed.

(c)

The wild goose spreads the book, and the flying star spreads hatred. Wang Fakun, who performed prominently in the army, was later promoted to an officer.

Hearing the good news from the letter, Li Jinhua was overjoyed, but she fell into distress again: he didn't know a word, and he was from the countryside, would he change his mind, and could he be worthy of him?

Wang Fakun and Li Jinhua love each other, and yin and yang are separated.

In the past, because she was shy, she was embarrassed to find someone to write it for her. Tossing and turning, she found someone to reply this time: "You are so easy to get through, you should find a girl in the city to marry, so that you can take your parents to live in the city, and from then on go out of the mountains and live a good life." It's not fair to you to marry me and stay in the mountains for the rest of your life. ”

Wang Fakun quickly replied to Li Jinhua that he had recognized her in his life, and married her because she was kind and virtuous, and she would definitely be a good wife in the future.

In February 1974, Wang Fakun went home for the first time in six years as a soldier and fulfilled the marriage contract with Li Jinhua under the pear blossom tree. They look forward to letting their sons inherit their father's business and join the army to serve the country in the future.

(iv)

If you can't work in the army for 15 years, then take off your military uniform and take care of your small family. At the beginning of 1978, the superiors arranged for Wang Fakun to change jobs.

Finally able to say goodbye to the life of separation between the two places, Wang Fakun contacted the job in Weining County. They are about to move out of that barren land, and good days are just around the corner. Parents have never walked out of the mountains in their lives, Wang Fakun wants to take Li Jinhua out of the mountains, and his two sons Wang Yuanbi and Wang Yuancang also want to go out of the mountains and become city people.

Wang Fakun's military photo. After it was decided that he would change jobs, he chose to return to the team to fight.

At this moment, the Sino-Vietnamese border was in an emergency. When the organization asked Wang Fakun for advice on whether to give up changing jobs and stay in the war, Wang Fakun, who was repairing a house in his hometown, hesitated. Take off your military uniform and round a small family. Walking on the battlefield, life and death are uncertain.

Like when he was a soldier, Li Jinhua once again supported Wang Fakun. She hadn't read a book, but she knew what her husband really thought.

On the morning of returning to the army, Li Jinhua made her husband's favorite bud rice and sent him to the entrance of the village. When they broke up, Wang Fakun said to her, "I'll be back when the pear blossoms bloom next year, you wait for me."

(f)

However, that wait is 38 years.

In the past 38 years, I have only seen the green mountains, but I have not seen my relatives return. The pear blossoms bloom as usual every year, and Wang Fakun never returned.

One day in May 1979, a man in military uniform approached Li Jinhua, who was working in the field, told her that Wang Fakun had died on the front line, and gave her 800 yuan, of which 500 yuan was a martyr's pension and the other 300 yuan was a condolence payment for the troops. Li Jinhua immediately fainted in the field, and the two children were so frightened that they lay on her and cried.

Wang Fakun was an artillery cadre, and when he died, he was the deputy commander of the Second Artillery Company of the 115th Regiment of the 39th Division of the 13th Army. He personally used artillery to destroy two enemy firing points, killing 11 of the enemy. The enemy frantically counterattacked, and the moment the shells fell beside him, he used his last strength to push Luo Shunliang, a recruit from the fourth class, away, and died heroically. He was 33 years old. She was 26 years old. That day, February 17, 1979.

(g)

Wang Fakun sacrificed, but Li Jinhua refused to believe it.

She often took her two children to the entrance of the village where she saw off her husband on the expedition, and waited for him to return. A day, two days, a month, three months passed, and my husband was not heard from.

She still believes that when the pear blossoms bloom, her husband will return. The husband may have been separated from the battle and could not find the team, but he will be back soon.

Until one day, the postman informed Li Jinhua to go to the commune post and telecommunications office to pick up the package. In the package, there was a letter from her husband before he went to war, which said: If I die, you can remarry, I don't have anything good, and the military coat will be given to him as a gift......

Li Jinhua raised her son alone. Li Jinhua clearly remembers that when she picked up the package, more than half of the 10 catties of brown sugar sent by her husband had melted, and the bags containing the sugar were dyed dark red, like blood.

(viii)

War can take away life, but it can't kill love.

At the age of 26, the age of a flower, well-wishers persuaded her to remarry. Even her mother-in-law couldn't bear Li Jinhua's suffering. She refused: "I was born as a member of the Wang family in this life, and I died as a ghost of the Wang family." ”

Li Jinhua's family portrait, only Wang Fakun is missing. She wants to fulfill her husband's last wishes: the debts owed by the family to build a house must be repaid, the elderly mother-in-law will provide for the elderly, and she will raise her two sons.

She has no other strength, but to work harder in the fields and mountains. Accumulation of hard work becomes a disease, and lovesickness becomes a disaster. When she was in her 30s, Li Jinhua was full of white hair, like a blooming pear blossom, swaying in the wind - Lang has left, what is there to do with green silk!

The pear blossoms bloom year after year, and the debts are paid off one by one. Seven years later, she wore linen and filial piety for her mother-in-law, Pu Linzhi, and the elderly. After 11 years, the debt has been paid off, and it is time to find her husband's tombstone and give him incense......

(ix)

Who knew that this delay turned out to be more than 20 years.

Li Jinhua has no education, and it is not easy for her to raise her two sons. She is not afraid of poverty. A second-class military merit medal, a watch, a kettle, two pens, a cigarette holder, three mouth jars, a coat, and a shirt and trousers left by the husband were sufficient.

It's just that in the dead of night, she often thinks of her "Brother Wang". In the days and nights when the rain hits the pear blossoms, she will remember Brother Wang's promise. When her daughter-in-law ran away with her granddaughter and her youngest son worked outside, she was helpless.

Whenever people from outside came to her house by the opposite road when Wang Fakun set out on the expedition, they asked her about the garland under the high mountain, and listened to her talk about love under the pear blossom tree.

Finally, one day, she and her brother Wang met. 28 years later, she came to the Pingbian Martyrs Cemetery in Yunnan.

He's inside, she's outside.

He turned into a mountain, and she cried into tears.

3. Garland under the mountain: Liang Sanxi's blood-stained bill, the real archetypal story behind the creation of the novel.

In the movie "Garland Under the Mountain", the most controversial thing is Liang Sanxi's "blood-stained bill" and Zhao Mengsheng's "curve transfer" of cadres. Are there any specific prototypes for the characters and events in this work, and how did this deeply moving classic novel come to be?

1. Works under the high mountain

In March 1979, after the start of the self-defense counterattack against Vietnam, Li Cunbao, then a propaganda officer of the Political Department of the Jinan Army, received the task of going deep into the front line to cover the news. He immediately joined the combat unit with more than 300 other literary and artistic creative backbones to conduct battlefield interviews and writing.

As a writer who was temporarily dispatched to accompany the army, Li Cunbao not only fought with the troops, but also conducted interviews on heroic deeds during extremely bad marches. During the more than four months of marching life, Li Cunbao rushed to write more than 100,000 words of reportage and prose.

In August 1978, Li Cunbao was ordered to transfer to another unit that was fighting on the front line in Guangxi, where he lived for three months, giving him another opportunity to observe the minds of ordinary soldiers and heroes up close.

At this time, Li Cunbao had already completed the writing task required by his superiors. His previous reportage work "Jiangmen Huzi - Remembering the Battle Hero Lan Fanghu" has won the first prize in the reportage category of the "Praise of Heroes for Self-Defense and Defending the Frontier" essay competition.

At this time, Li Cunbao not only had rich experience in literary creation, but also had real combat life experience. Those bloody experiences are tedious compared to the running journal news interviews and general reportage, and he especially hopes that he can make a breakthrough in his creation.

Therefore, he began to work hard to digest and absorb the war materials and heroic deeds collected from the Yunnan and Guangxi fronts in the past seven months, and patiently searched for those people and things that could most move people's hearts during and after the war.

In fact, Li Cunbao was full of impulse for the first time, and as soon as he opened the manuscript paper and wrote the beginning, he crumpled the manuscript and threw it into the paper basket. The reason is that Liang Sanxi's family and Zhao Mengsheng's family have two lines, but the other characters are still very incomplete.

In this way, "Garland Under the Mountain" was declared invalid as soon as it began to be created, and Li Cunbao also ended his second interview mission in the front-line troops at this time and returned to his original unit Jinan.

After the April 1982 National Symposium on the Creation of Military-themed Literature, Zhang Shouren, editor of the well-known magazine "October," warmly invited Li Cunbao to his home for a detailed discussion. Here, Li Cunbao told Zhang Shouren what he had seen and heard at the front. When he talked about the plot of the martyr's wife and mother who used their pensions to pay off their debts, the other party said with tears in his eyes: Write! Write it down quickly! How can there be such a good martyr in the world? How can there be such a good people!

With Zhang Shouren's encouragement, Li Cunbao began to write on May 20, 182, and completed the first draft on June 19. It was rewritten from July 5th to 18th, and finally copied and copied.

According to Zhang Shouren's recollection: "In the evening of the same day, Li Cunbao took a large stack of manuscript paper and sent it to my home on the Middle Road of the North Third Ring Road, hoping that I would deal with it as soon as possible." Two days later, the editorial board of October unanimously agreed to publish "Garland Under the Mountain".

Feng Mu, a scholar in the literary world, wrote a classic review of this novel with great excitement, "The Most Magnificent and the Most Precious: Reading the Garland Under the Mountain", which was published in the sixth issue of October magazine in 1982.

Second, the transfer under the mountain

In "Garland Under the Mountain", another profound problem exposed is the "curve transfer" of the cadres' children. In that era, due to the influence of the red wave and the "going to the mountains and going to the countryside" movement, many cadres and children joined the army.

This phenomenon is not a big deal in peacetime, and before the war came, there were cadres who tried every means to transfer their children away from the front. On May 17, after the end of the war, Jiefangjun Bao published an article severely criticizing this phenomenon.

In fact, during the war, most of the children of cadres performed remarkably well in the fighting. When Li Cunbao was interviewed on the front line in Yunnan, he was very appreciative of the heroic performance of the cadres in the war, and his award-winning reportage "Jiangmen Huzi" wrote about the deeds of the cadres' sons "Lan Fanghu", who inherited their father's ambition to make new contributions on the battlefield. There are also the later "Descendants of Heroes" and the deeds of Huang Nanyi's platoon commander, all of which are highly praised for the children of cadres.

On the one hand, there are poor martyrs who "owe bills", and on the other hand, there is the "curve transfer" of cadres' children.

On the one hand, it is the noble quality of paying off the debt with pensions, and on the other hand, it is the greed for life and fear of death of a few people.

How to balance the sublime and the despicable, and how to make the contradictions in the screening of literary works both acute and profound, tragic and speculative. More importantly, literary works "cannot discredit the army", with such a problem, the author Li Cunbao cannot but weigh it repeatedly.

It's not enough to just have a comparison, in order to further highlight the value of Liang Sanxi, Jin Kailai, and Aunt Li, the author created the galloping character of "Captain Lei". He appeared at the forefront of the struggle against the enemy, and also stood on the top of a mountain to resist unhealthy winds.

When Wu Shuang called the phone from the back door to his forward position, he scolded at the division headquarters meeting:

"I Lei Mou doesn't care if he is God's wife or the landlord's wife to go through the back door, who dares to walk the back door to my bloody battlefield of sacrifice, no matter what, I Lei Mou wants her son to be the first to carry the explosives bag, to blow up the bunker, to blow up the bunker!

From Commander Lei, we strongly feel our party's glorious revolutionary tradition and the heroic and righteous spirit of fighting off all evils. "His body is upright, and he will not be ordered, and if his body is not right, he will not be able to do it"! How could such a military commander not be authoritious and give orders!

In the original work, Captain Lei, known as the "God of Thunder", also sacrificed his beloved only son for this war.

The sharpness of contradictions, the courage to dig through the permafrost and dig out the path of the truth of life. Zhao Mengsheng's wrong behavior was scolded by Liang Sanxi, which angered the military commander "Thunder God" and was reprimanded without naming him.

The roar of the lion of the commander of the Lei army, and the tsunami-like applause of the soldiers, caused a strong mental pressure on Zhao Mengsheng, shocked the rusted dignity in the depths of his soul, and for the first time he felt that the shame of shamelessness was cruelly punishing him.

It was at this time that Zhao Mengsheng suddenly woke up and understood what the dignity of a soldier was! Because he realized for the first time that what was still beating violently in his chest was a heart that knew how to be ashamed.

From Liang Sanxi and Jin Kailai's reprimand of Zhao Mengsheng, and from the roar of Commander Lei throwing his hat and scolding his mother: We read "Garland Under the Mountain" and followed the footsteps of the heroes, and our souls seemed to have undergone a purification.

3. Bills under the mountain

In the movie "Garland Under the Mountain", the most touching thing is the "blood-stained bill." When Li Cunbao interviewed the main attacking troops of the 31st Division of the 11th Army on the Yunnan front, he had seen such a shocking "bill" with his own eyes. In the suicide note, he repeatedly told me: If I sacrifice my life honorably, I can't die an account, and the state will give a pension and repay all the debts.

In fact, the pitiful pension was not enough to pay off the bills. During the same period, Zhang Yuanchao's work "Veterans Experienced the Vietnam War: Vietnamese Army Prisoners Have Cigarettes Every Day, and Our Army's Martyrs' Pensions Are Not Enough to Pay Their Debts" wrote: At that time, cadres at the company and platoon levels were killed, and only 550 yuan of pension was taken, and all of them were not enough to pay off the debts.

What's even more worrying is that Li Cunbao learned in an interview that the "blood-stained bill" is not an isolated case. Many cadres at the company and platoon levels have the problem of arrears after their sacrifices, some of them have been written down on slips of paper, and some have only given oral explanations. These martyrs who owed debts were from Henan, Shandong, and Sichuan, and all of them had enlisted in the army from the countryside.

In the process of understanding these "blood-stained bills", there is an even more touching story: the story of a martyr's wife who took a pension and sold it to the dowry that her mother's family gave her when she got married, and together with her elderly mother-in-law, came to the army to pay off her husband's debts.

This is the prototype story of Han Yuxiu in the novel and movie "Garland Under the Mountain". In the words of Aunt Liang: She didn't even give her a piece of cloth, so she married into my Liang family.

In the original book, she and Liang Sanxi have been married for three years and have stayed together for less than 90 days.

Her husband died heroically, and she endured the pain and mourned, not daring to cry loudly, for fear of affecting her mother-in-law's health. She has to take care of her elderly mother-in-law and take care of her child, who has just reached the age of one month and is short of milk." But after she arrived in the army, she "either helped the cooking squad wash the steamer drawer cloth, or dismantled and washed the quilts for the soldiers, and she couldn't be idle for a moment."

She carried a heavy filial piety for her husband, and "silently wept" on her husband's grave late at night, which shows how real and deep her feelings for her husband are.

For the sake of her happiness, her mother-in-law asked her to "find a home as soon as possible", and she "broke into the house at once, put her knees in front of her mother-in-law, and covered her mother-in-law's mouth with her hands, crying: "Mother......! Stop...... I'll serve you for the rest of your life!"

Liang Damiang, who was born in the old area of Yimeng Mountain, was a model of the "Luzhong Military Region", and she has an incomparable deep affection for the revolutionary cause. She selflessly sacrificed her three sons for the revolution and never spoke of conditions. On the way to the company, their family ate black rotten melon pancakes and a few salted radishes. The three generations of grandparents and grandchildren were reluctant to buy bus tickets, "moving more than 160 miles step by step".

Her life is so hard, but she never forgets to pay off her son's debts. She picked up the scissors, opened the seam of her shirt a few times, and with her skinny hand, she took out six hundred and twenty yuan, and said calmly: "Sanxi owes six hundred and twenty yuan, and left a message for me and Yuxiu to pay back."

This is our elderly mother, this is the great national spirit of our Chinese nation, and this is the great image of our Chinese nation!

IV. Afterword

After the publication of "Garland Under the Mountain", it aroused strong repercussions among readers across the country. The army printed and distributed this novel and the commentary article written by Feng Mu into a single book, distributed it to the squad level, and organized the whole army to read it.

In 1984, "Garland Under the Mountain" was adapted into three episodes of TV series in the first half of the year, and after being put on the movie screen by director Xie Jin in the second half of the year, it once again caused a national sensation. The author, Li Cunbao, received more than 4,000 letters from all over the country in a year, some expressing excitement and gratitude, some telling similar experiences, and some being influenced to express "repentance". Among them, more than 400 letters were complained that the deputy company commander Jin Kailai had not made meritorious contributions.

The sensation caused by the movie "Garland Under the Mountain" has almost reached the point of becoming a household name, and it has also become the most touching movie in the self-defense counterattack against Vietnam. In 2017, Feng Xiaogang's movie "Fanghua" was released, and many elderly audiences recalled the haunting "Garland Under the Mountain" in their hearts while watching the movie. The novels and movies of those years brought them the kind of feelings of family and country that "they were humble and did not dare to forget their worries about the country", which were stirred, lingering, and echoing! Salute to the heroes who participated in the self-defense and counterattack since the founding of the People's Republic of China! [Pray] [pray] [pray] [p
