According to statistics, during the three-day New Year's Day holiday in 2024 alone, the number of tourism orders in Harbin increased by 158% year-on-year, of which 75% were from other places, and more than 65% were from the south.
With the influx of tourists, Harbin's tourism industry in 2024 has borne fruit that has never borne fruit before: the three-day holiday has received a total of 3.0479 million tourists, achieving a total tourism income of nearly 6 billion yuan. Both the number of tourists received and the total tourism revenue reached the highest peak in Harbin's history.
Not only that, the small potato effect in the south has also radiated to other parts of the Northeast, and the tide of small potatoes has driven the passenger flow of the four major airports in the Northeast to show explosive growth.
According to an aviation data platform, the four major international airports in Northeast China - Harbin Taiping, Shenyang Taoxian, Dalian Zhoushuizi, and Changchun Longjia have seen a leap in passenger traffic and flight volume in 2023.
Among them, the passenger throughput of Harbin Taiping and Shenyang Taoxian jumped to 20 million steps, reaching 20,805,300 and 20,564,800 respectively, a year-on-year increase of 119.08% and 119.07%.
The performance of the other two large airports in Northeast China is not bad, and the annual passenger throughput of Dalian Zhoushuizi and Changchun Longjia Airports reached 16.1333 million and 15.4837 million passengers respectively, an increase of 153.33% and 114.66% year-on-year.
Entering 2024, Harbin Taiping Airport's performance is even more eye-catching, as of January 10, the number of flight movements in just one decade has reached 4,598, a year-on-year increase of 113.7%
According to the data, in the past month, half of the top ten popular routes to Harbin have come from southern cities, which are Shanghai, Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Chengdu and Guangzhou, with about 1,700 flights. It fully demonstrates the enthusiasm of southern tourists for Harbin.
The small potato effect in the south has undoubtedly brought unprecedented prosperity to the tourism industry in Harbin and even the entire Northeast region. With more and more tourists from the south pouring in, Harbin's tourism market is expected to continue to thrive.
