In fact, Ishikawa Prefecture, where the earthquake area is located, and the surrounding area have a number of parts factories involved in the automotive industry chain, including semiconductors and display screens. If the earthquake causes a prolonged shutdown, it will have an impact on the production of Japanese automakers.
In addition, the reporter learned that Ishikawa Prefecture and the surrounding areas are also an important gathering place for Japan's textile industry, where about eighty percent of Japan's nylon and polyester fibers are produced, and the Japanese textile giant Toray has a number of factories in the local area. According to a number of Japanese media reports, it has been confirmed that some of Toray's local factories and equipment were damaged by the earthquake. At present, 24 listed companies in the local area have confirmed that they have been affected by the earthquake, two-thirds of them said that their factories and other buildings were damaged, and more than half of them said that their production lines and related equipment were damaged. Others said that infrastructure and inventory were damaged in the earthquake.
At present, Ishikawa Prefecture has a continuous aftershock, rain and snow. Traffic and logistics in the epicenter area have been hit hard and are expected to be difficult to recover in the short term.
