What is a syrup?
Syrup refers to an aqueous solution of concentrated sucrose containing an API. Sucrose and aromatics contained in syrup can mask the bitter, salty and other unpleasant odors of certain ingredients, improving the taste of taking them, especially popular with children.
Syrup can be divided into single syrup and medicinal syrup.
Single syrup
It is a thick liquid with a sugar content of 85% and a relative density greater than 1.30. Mono-syrup does not contain any drugs, in addition to the preparation of medicinal syrup, it can generally be used as a flavoring syrup, such as orange peel syrup, ginger syrup, etc., and sometimes as a suspender.
Medicinal syrup
As the name suggests, it is an aqueous solution of concentrated sucrose containing drugs or medicinal extracts, which has a certain therapeutic effect. The sugar content of medicinal syrup is not as high as that of monosyrup, generally more than 65%. Medicinal syrup generally has a slightly sweet taste and is easily accepted by patients.
It should be noted that some diabetics may cause blood sugar abnormalities when using syrup, so we must use it with caution.
