Singapore's education has once again been reaffirmed for its preeminent position in the global higher education sector.
Now, let's take a look at the rankings of the National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University and Singapore Management University in 2023.
QS World University Rankings
Quacquarelli Symonds, QS, is a UK-based higher education consultancy focusing on education and further education and career services.
Every year, QS publishes two high-profile rankings, the World University Rankings by Subject and the World University Rankings.
These two rankings have been hailed as the "Oscars" of the study abroad community, as they reflect the changes in the teaching and teaching strength of universities around the world over the past year.
The National University of Singapore is ranked 8th in the QS World University Rankings and 1st in Asia. This is the sixth consecutive year that the National University of Singapore has topped the list of Asian universities.
Nanyang Technological University is ranked 26th in the QS World University Rankings. Nanyang Technological University is the 4th highest ranked school in Asia and maintains its position as one of the top universities in the world!
SMU has risen several places to 545th in the QS World University Rankings from 561-570 in the world in the QS World University Rankings 2023.
THE World University Rankings
In 2023, the Times Higher Education World University Rankings have made a major change to the research methodology!
The most significant change was the increase in the number of performance indicators from 13 to 18.
Among them, a new indicator, "outbound exchange students", was introduced, but it currently has zero weight.
However, Times Higher Education said the indicator would be factored into the calculation in the future.
Despite this, the performance indicators for the ranking are still divided into five areas, but the naming has changed.
The five areas are: teaching, research environment, research quality, international outlook, and industry.
The adjustments to these indicators are intended to provide a more comprehensive assessment of the university's overall strength and global impact.
The National University of Singapore (NUS) is ranked 19th in the Global University Rankings, unchanged from last year, demonstrating its academic stability and global standing.
Nanyang Technological University (NTU) has moved up to 32nd place in this year's Global University Rankings, a significant improvement from 36th last year, reaffirming its academic and research excellence.
U.S. News Best Colleges in the World (2022-2023)
The U.S. News World Rankings score does not consider a school's undergraduate or graduate education alone, but rather a school's overall academic research performance and its global and regional reputation.
Singapore's public universities are ranked 26th in U.S. News' ranking of the best global universities. In the ranking of the best global universities in Asia, the National University of Singapore is ranked 2nd.
Nanyang Technological University (NTU) is a close second at 30th place. In the ranking of the best global universities in Asia, NTU is ranked 3rd.
