To be honest, as soon as the drama "Flowers" was officially announced, I joined the must-see list, and it is self-evident how high my expectations are.
First, director Wong Kar-wai's lens language has always been praised, and you don't have to think about it to know that "Flowers" must be a movie-level drama.
Second, Hu Ge, Ma Yili, Xin Zhilei, Tang Yan and other actors filmed this drama for three years, and it is conceivable that it must be carefully polished.
In addition, the trailer released by this drama almost does not reveal any information, and it still maintains a sense of mystery, which whets people's appetites.
But with the broadcast of this drama on CCTV, it only took 2 episodes to make people look forward to disillusionment.
Although it is a drama selected by CCTV, the quality of "Flowers" is far from meeting expectations, as an urban drama, what everyone is most looking forward to is to be able to find a sense of reality close to life, but "Flowers" gives the audience a similar feeling, the start of the broadcast was criticized, and there were bad reviews, urban dramas want to be down-to-earth, but they are by no means "grounded".
Showing the lives of Shanghainese and Shanghainese, directors often use a tone to highlight the so-called petty bourgeois characteristics.
There was "The Myth of Love" starring Xu Zheng and Ma Yili before, and now there is another "Flowers". It is undeniable that many scenes in the play show the prosperity of Shanghai in the eighties and nineties of the last century.
But too much emphasis on tone makes "Flowers" seem inexplicable.
For example, in the introduction at the beginning of the play, Ah Bao, played by Hu Ge, walked up to the attic and talked to the writer Jin Yucheng, asking the other party if he had thought about how to write a book, and the other party left a sentence that he hadn't thought about yet, but the first sentence had already been thought of, "It's best to go to the attic alone, it's best at night." ”
I thought that this sentence was a foreshadowing for the follow-up storyline, but it has nothing to do with the plot, if there is an interpretation of this sentence in the follow-up plot, the audience must have forgotten the introduction of the beginning, so whether it is in the early or late stage, this plot is redundant.
And there are many similar plots in the play, such as a poor boy like Ah Bao, who found the old master uncle (played by You Benchang) and asked the other party to teach him to do business, all kinds of lines were piled up, and he almost explained the 18th generation of Ah Bao's ancestors, and he still didn't explain it, why did a big man like Uncle Grandpa teach Ah Bao to do business?
and Uncle Grandma, who had to let Bao, who didn't have a penny, rent him a room in the Peace Hotel, even if it was just for one day, the plot of this place was for no reason.
It seems that Uncle Grandpa wants to tell Po that where to live is a gimmick, and only by making people look at him decently can he make a big difference, and an English-style suite in the Peace Hotel can play such a role.
But before Po made money, he had to let him rent a house for a day, which was really a little incomprehensible. Uncle doesn't seem to be a person who lacks the money to rent a house on this day, and this day is useless to Uncle Grandpa, and it is useless to Bao, why do you have to let Bao rent a house for him?
This kind of plot that is not close enough to the ground not only has no effect on the development of the plot, but also deliberately shows off, just to make the audience unable to understand it, so as to increase the suspicion of mystery.
Although "Flowers" is an urban drama, from the perspective of the director's presentation and story direction, it also incorporates a lot of suspense elements.
As soon as the story opened, Ah Bao suffered a car accident, he got into the car with 300,000 cash, but was directly hit by a taxi that drove straight over, 300,000 fell to the ground, and Ah Bao's life was also hanging by a thread.
Since then, the plot has begun to use interludes, first flashing back to before Po became famous, then telling how he made his first pot of gold, and even telling a lot of things that have nothing to do with this plot, and finally returning to Po's car accident case.
During this period, after several rescues by the doctor, Ah Bao almost died, and a bunch of people outside the operating room were worried about his life and death, but as soon as the uncle appeared, he concluded that he could not die with a wave of his hand, and he was discharged home the next day.
The point is that he has bandages and casts on his legs, and he also jumps rope to exercise, all kinds of foreshadowing seems to imply that Po has met a fairly strong opponent, and he needs to retreat for a few months to take care of his body before he can fight the opponent.
However, in the end, the truth was revealed, and it turned out to be just a nobody who mistakenly thought that Ah Bao was doing the game, causing him and his relatives to lose all the money, but because he was angry, Ah Bao was bumped in, and this was investigated for several months.
"Flowers" stretches this storyline for so long, but the truth is the most boring one, which is really disappointing.
Looking at the characters portrayed in the drama "Flowers", it gives people the feeling that everyone is not simple, and everyone has a great background.
For example, the small finance played by Tang Yan, although she is Cinderella with her mouth closed, she can get Bao's trust, and she has always followed Bao's side, and she can also introduce business to the bosses.
Another example is the proprietress played by Ma Yili, although the restaurant she runs has been losing money, she is the kind of proprietress with great powers in Bao's mouth.
There is also the uncle played by You Benchang, who can accurately control the direction of the stock market, when he can win, when he will lose, how much he wins and how much he loses, he knows it all in his heart.
Including Ah Bao played by Hu Ge, he became a popular figure in Shanghai overnight, everyone had to shout Bao when they saw him, and some people even spent a lot of money to open a hotel in order to deal with him.
Everyone is a god, and it seems that there are all kinds of unknown experiences behind them, but after watching the plot of the early update, the play did not explain anyone's fortune deeds clearly.
Uncle Grandpa looks like an ordinary little old man, why is he so powerful? Why did he choose Bao? And Bao's success, it seems that it is because Uncle Grandpa can pinch and calculate, telling him how to buy stocks, when to sell, when to enter, and he has not revealed his true ability at all.
These gods portrayed in the play lack a specific landing point, so that the audience can really understand where they are powerful, but in fact, they are not.
Director Wong Kar-wai once mentioned that when he made this work, he only talked about what he could say, and suggested that everyone read the original work. After watching this drama, I realized why I had to read the original book, after all, there is no difference between telling the story presented in the drama version and not telling it, and the audience is simply lonely.
Filming "Flowers" like this, let alone reading the original book, I am afraid that there are not many viewers who can watch the drama! I don't know what you think of this drama?
