On December 27, OPPO announced the latest technological progress in the four major fields of AI, performance, communication, and privacy and security, including the first handset/hands-free dual-mode satellite call for smartphones, the first device-side application of 7 billion parameter large models, the debut of Tidal architecture and many other technologies, and these technology combinations will be implemented in the next-generation flagship Find X7 series.

Communication is the number one requirement for smartphones, and since the Huawei Mate 60 Pro was announced with satellite calling, satellite communication is becoming the standard feature in flagship phones.

"Unlike competitors who only support hands-free calls for satellite calls, OPPO can provide handset/hands-free dual-mode satellite calls for the OPPO Find X7 series through satellite antenna pattern control technology, which solves the slots of user privacy protection and unclear hands-free calls in extreme environments. In terms of large models, following the launch of the self-trained Andean large model (AndesGPT) at the ODC (OPPO Developer Conference), OPPO announced that it will implement the industry's first 7 billion parameter model for device-side applications on the Find X7 series.

The Andean model is divided into multiple versions of 180 billion parameters, 70 billion parameters, and 7 billion parameters, supporting device-cloud collaborative deployment and diversified application scenarios. The Xiaobu assistant connected to the Andean model can help users write Moments, Xiaohongshu copywriting, draft PPT outlines, etc. By applying a large model of 7 billion parameters to the Find X7 series, many practical functions such as local call summary, hair-level subject extraction, AIGC removal, and background supplementation are realized.

Zhang Jun, general manager of OPPO Software Innovation Center, said, "To install the 7 billion large model into the mobile phone, the memory problem must be solved first. OPPO compresses the model from 28GB to 3.9GB through high-precision 4bit quantization and other model compression, inference engine acceleration, and hardware acceleration with in-depth cooperation with the chip platform, bringing a complete 7 billion parameter large model to the mobile phone side for the first time. ”
