The play focuses on Shanghai during the great changes of the times, and focuses on the cross-narrative of the protagonist A Bao (played by Hu Ge), showing the ups and downs of the life of the trendy children in the business field of Shanghai in the early 90s of the 20th century. In order to accurately present the sense of the times behind the story, director Wong Kar-wai has repeatedly scrutinized the script, casting, costumes, light and shadow effects, etc., and the crew has carried out six years of preparatory work, striving to bring the audience into the atmosphere of Shanghai's customs and rapid economic development.

Director Wong Kar-wai said that Ah Bao, who has nothing, turned around gorgeously in ten years and became the mighty Bao Zong, "In addition to his personal struggle, he also needs the blessing of the times", the play started from the fate of the little people in the context of the big era, and showed the vitality of countless Ah Bao in the section of the times.

It is reported that in addition to the Mandarin version, the Shanghainese version of "Flowers" will also be launched in the near future. The actors said that the story is presented in Shanghainese, the characters are more intimate and landing, the language expression is more local, and the Mandarin version has its own flavor and is equally exciting.
