A rescuer from the Guiyang City Fire and Rescue Detachment introduced that the Qingzhen Brigade and the Baihua Road Fire and Rescue Station went to the scene. Wang Jie, a firefighter involved in the rescue, said in an interview with Beijing Youth Daily that the incident occurred at a highway construction site, and the buried workers had difficulty breathing and their lower bodies were numb. After conducting an investigation, Wang Jie found that there was also a large iron pipe weighing several tons at the site where the workers were buried, and the surrounding soil was soft, so in order to avoid secondary injuries to the trapped people, large machinery could not be used at all. How to quickly rescue people has become a difficult problem.

Two fire and rescue personnel put on full-body safety slings, fixed the safety rope, and slowly descended to the location of the trapped person.

Wang Jie and his colleagues first used small tools such as shovels to dig up, and after three or four hours, they could only dig with their bare hands. When one firefighter gets tired, he replaces it with another. During the rescue process, the pit still collapsed twice, and the fire rescue personnel immediately blocked it with a baffle and body to prevent the collapsed soil from injuring the trapped people. Four fire and rescue personnel relayed in the pothole, and finally at about 1:30 a.m. on the 26th, a total of about 7 hours, successfully rescued the trapped person and rushed him to the hospital for treatment. Fortunately, the medical staff at the scene confirmed that the trapped person's vital signs were normal.

A reporter from Beiqing Daily saw one of the pictures of the rescue at the scene, and after rescuing the person, firefighter Wang Jie was covered with mud. Wang Jie said that after 7 hours of rescue, everyone is very tired, due to the special situation at the rescue site, as a rescuer, I don't care about clothes, as long as I can rescue people safely, it is the biggest gain.

It is reported that 28-year-old Wang Jie is a retired armed police soldier, after retiring from the army, he met the local recruitment of firefighters, was admitted after registration, and has been working in the fire brigade for 5 years.
