I was born in February 1955 in the western suburbs of Luoyang. Soon after I was born, the first tractor factory started construction near our home, that is, since then, the ten major factories and mining enterprises of the Republic have started construction in the western suburbs of Luoyang, Luoyang, an ancient city, because of the wind and fire of the "First Five-Year Plan" construction showed vitality.
However, when the construction of factories and mines began, thousands of residents in our home and surrounding areas lost their land and changed to urban hukou. Our family originally farmed the land for the production team, counted the labor, and divided the money at the end of the year, but there was no land, and my father and brothers later entered the factory one after another and became workers.
When I was in my second year of junior high school, my father died unexpectedly, and the family lacked a lot of labor, and the livelihood of our family of seven became a problem, so I had to drop out of school and go home.
However, I was the class president at the time, and I was often praised for my essays. The teacher felt that it was a pity that I did not go to school, so he came to my house to do my mother's work and wanted me to go back to school to continue studying, but I couldn't bear to see my mother working too hard, so I had to decline the teacher's kindness and became an apprentice in the factory, with a salary of 18 yuan a month, which greatly reduced the burden on the family.
However, in the spring of 1973, my eldest brother also became an apprentice, and the family had a new income.
After the recruits left the company, I was assigned to the company's cooking class, however, I was not very motivated at that time, I came to be a soldier, not to cook, and I wanted to go to the combat class.
But one day, the squad leader came to talk to me, and he said that being a soldier obeys orders is the first place, that a party soldier is a brick, where it needs to be moved, the troops are not allowed to bargain, they must obey orders, and the cooking class is the best place to train and train people. I listened to the squad leader's words.
At this time, a fellow in the second class I knew quietly told me that in our company, in addition to the combat class is particularly excellent, in the company meritorious service awards and even promotion, the cooking class is relatively easy, because everyone in the cooking class does not want to come, they are dirty and tired, and they feel that being a cook is useless.
He also said that if the rice is cooked, the land is planted, and the pigs are fed, it will be difficult to make progress, and he also said that the current deputy company commander is the former cooking squad leader.
However, I could understand what they said at that time, but I still wanted to go to the combat squad in my heart, but I didn't dare to be sloppy at all in the work at hand.

One day in March 1975, the company carried out a report meeting on "learning from Lei Feng's deeds and telling the stories around him", and each class recommended at least 2 comrades to participate in the company's storytelling activities. When I was found, I was not afraid to write, and when I was in middle school, I did well in Chinese, I didn't find it difficult to write essays, and I was always praised by my teachers. After arriving at the cooking class, the squad leader and his comrades-in-arms got up early and cooked for everyone, I saw it in my eyes, especially the squad leader himself, the first to get up every day, the sky was not yet bright, the steamed buns were steamed, and I often cared about the learning Xi and progress of the comrades in the class, and the role of role models was very prominent. After being a clerk, I was in charge of the company's four blackboard newspapers, assisting the company commander in sorting out various registrations and reports, and running to the office to deliver materials and obtain information, which I felt was much more interesting than in the cooking class.
In this way, I worked as a clerk in the company for 2 years, and in 1977, when the company was ready to report that I was a seedling of cadres, I didn't expect that the company was only given an indicator that year, but the company had 3 qualified people, and when discussing who to give the quota, a combat squad leader got one more vote than me, and I was defeated.
I felt very shameless, I worked so hard, but I was defeated because of the indicators, but, as a fighter of a grassroots company, I unconditionally accepted the decision made by the party branch. At the end of the year, I left the army when the veterans were discharged.
However, most of the veterans who returned to Luoyang back then, some of whom had connections and backgrounds, entered the public procuratorate, procuratorate, law or industry and commerce departments, and our family did not have these resources, so we could only resign ourselves to fate.
Society is complicated, whether to go with the flow or rise up in adversity, I chose the latter.
Later, I and 20 comrades-in-arms from other units were assigned to a mechanical repair factory with more than 1,600 employees, and most of the veterans were placed in the front-line positions of the foundry workshop in the most difficult and tiring part of the factory.
Those who are familiar with the foundry workshop know that the hardest and most tiring work in the foundry workshop is one of the steelmaking slag workers, and I, who is 1.73 meters tall, is one of them.
When people cook and stir-fry, they often have to add oil, salt, sauce and vinegar and other condiments to the dishes, and when making steel, they should also add different "condiments" to the molten steel according to different needs, add a certain proportion of alloy to achieve the predetermined composition of molten steel, and add lime to facilitate the characteristics of slag......
However, due to the low degree of production technology and automation at that time, when adding these "condiments", the workshop was particularly dusty and the temperature was abnormally high (1500 °C molten steel, about 1.5m away from the ladle, there was an obvious baking feeling, and ordinary people could not stay for 1 minute).
What's even more unbearable is that to smelt a furnace of steel, you need to add 50-80 bags, each bag of 20 kg of material, these materials need to be added to the ladle bag by hand, high temperature, material weight, plus dust masks cover the face, people are almost out of breath, ordinary people can not stand it in such an environment for a while, and I, this type of work is 5 years.
During this period, I also worked as a billet cleaner, steel plate cutter and other hard and tiring jobs.
However, the heavy physical labor did not change my habit Xi of reading and writing for many years, I submitted articles to the factory newspaper in my spare time, and the prose I wrote was even published in the Luoyang Daily, and I was jokingly called a "worker reporter" by my workers.
In 1983, the factory implemented the separation of party and government organs, and openly selected the secretary of the party committee of the factory office, and because I was a veteran, a front-line worker, and often had works in the newspaper, I was fortunate to be elected as the secretary of the party committee of the factory, and the probation period was half a year. In my new position, I was the first to go to the office every day, and I made all kinds of preparations in advance.
In 1987, I was promoted to deputy secretary and secretary of the Youth League Committee of the factory, and became a middle-level cadre in the factory, and then worked in the position of workshop director and section chief of the factory department for more than 30 years.
In 2017, I retired from the position of chairman of the factory union.
