Puji Bridge
Puji Bridge is one of the oldest bridges in Kanazawa and is commonly known as the Seido Bridge because of the temple temple next to the bridge. It was built in the Southern Song Dynasty, that is, in 1267 AD. The Ming and Qing dynasties were rebuilt several times and stone fences were added. It is a single-hole stone arch bridge with a length of 26.7 meters and a height of 5 meters. According to historical records, for a long time in ancient times, the top of the bridge was equipped with stone frames and wooden gates, which were closed at night to protect the safety of residents.
Although the age is long, the design of the Puji Bridge is very exquisite. The masonry of the single-hole arch ring is no different from the famous Zhaozhou Bridge in Hebei, and the stone of the whole body is made of precious purple stone. Whenever the rain passes, the sun shines purple. From a distance, it has a crystalline texture, like a jewel-encrusted gemstone bridge.
In folklore, it also has the name of a bridge called Three Bridges, which means that the Puji Bridge spans the east and west banks, and on both sides of the street, there is a small auxiliary bridge. This feature, like the temple of Kanazawa Bridge, is rare among the ancient bridges in the south of the Yangtze River. As a typical cultural relic of the Southern Song Dynasty, its historical records have left the footprints of Zhao Mengfu, a great calligrapher of the Yuan Dynasty, Liu Bowen of the Ming Dynasty, and Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty. The ancient history and profound humanistic connotation have made it enjoy the reputation of "Shanghai's first bridge".
Mr. Tang Huancheng, a contemporary bridge expert, believes that on the bigness of Shanghai's ancient bridges, only Zhujiajiao Fangsheng Bridge, and on the ancient bridges of Shanghai, Jinze Puji Bridge should be pushed.
