Nearly 30 years after the "thallium poisoning" incident at Tsinghua University, the victim, Zhu Ling, died.
According to Tsinghua University's official Weibo news, Zhu Ling, a 1992 alumnus of the school and a brave and strong student, passed away in Beijing on December 22, 2023.
Zhu Ling was born in November 1973, was admitted to Tsinghua University in 1992, was hospitalized in December 1994 due to physical discomfort, and was confirmed to be thallium poisoning on April 28, 1995.
Zhu Ling's roommate at the time, Sun, was considered to be a major suspect, and the police also locked that the murderer was "by Zhu Ling's side", but the case could not be solved.

Since the poisoning in 1994, Zhu Ling's intellectual, visual, physical and speech functions have not recovered, and his life must be cared for by his elderly parents.
In 2013, the Fudan University poisoning case was solved, which once again aroused public attention to the case. The Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau's "Ping An Beijing" Weibo once responded to the "Zhu Ling case", saying that it had been nearly half a year since Zhu Ling showed symptoms of poisoning and the public security organs received the report. There were no surveillance facilities at the relevant places, the traces and physical evidence of the crime had been destroyed, and despite the best efforts of the investigators and the various criminal investigation measures that could be used at the time, no direct evidence to identify the suspect was obtained, and the case could not be solved in the end.

On November 18, 2023, Zhu Ling suffered a brain tumor, with high cranial pressure, dilated pupils, a high fever of 39 °C, and fell into a severe coma. Regarding this case, Zhu Ling's father once frankly said that "she has been put down" and "we are no longer here, and society will not abandon her".
