Amelocytoma
Ameloblastoma
Amelocytoma is a rare tumor that originates in the odontogenetic epithelium and accounts for 1% of head and neck tumors. Although benign tumors, lesions may be locally invasive. Imaging shows well-defined, multilocular expansive lesions with soap bubble-like changes, typically centered on the posterior part of the mandible. Available evidence suggests that the disease is associated with non-erupting teeth (Figs. 2, 3). Soft tissue composition enhanced by enhanced scanning is a useful imaging feature to distinguish amelocytoma from other tumors (Figure 1). Erosion of the adjacent tooth is also characteristic of the disease.
