author:Frank big gray wolf

Zhengyijiao is an important branch of Taoism, which mainly uses Fu Gong Zhai Jiao as a practice method, which is opposed to Quanzhenjiao. The origin of Zhengyijiao can be traced back to Zhang Daoling in the Eastern Han Dynasty, who was the founder of Tianshi Tao and the ancestor of Zhengyijiao. The Tao of Heavenly Masters has been passed down from generation to generation, and there have been sixty-four generations of Heavenly Masters so far. The name of Zhengyi Sect is said to have come from the title of "Zhengyi Sect Master" given by Chengzong by Zhang Hecai, the 38th Heavenly Master of the Yuan Dynasty.

The Three Mountains of the Zhengyi Sect

There is a unique school of characters in the Zhengyi Sect called the Three Mountains Dripping Blood School. This character school is the basis for the disciples of Zhengyi to take the name of the Tao, and there are fifty characters, which are "Shoudao Ming Rende, Quanzhen Fu Taihe, Zhicheng Xuanyudian, Zhongzheng Yanjinke, Chong Han Tong Yuanyun, Gao Hongding Daluo, Sanshan Yue Xingzhen, Fuhai Yong Hongbo, Qionglong Yang Miaofa, Huanyu Zhengxiandu". These characters represent the philosophy and spirit of Zhengyijiao, and also reflect the difference and connection between Zhengyijiao and other Taoist sects.

The Three Mountains of the Zhengyi Sect

There are many theories about the origin of the Three Mountains Blood Spill Sect. One of the theories is that this character school is the lineage inheritance of the thirtieth generation of Heavenly Master Zhang Jixian in the Southern Song Dynasty to Patriarch Sa Shoujian. Sa Shoujian was an important figure in the Heavenly Master Dao, he once participated in the War of Resistance against Jin, and widely spread the Heavenly Master Tao in Jiangsu and Zhejiang. After he obtained Zhang Jixian's lineage, he passed it on to Wang Shouxin and others. These people are the pioneers and leaders of the Zhengyi Sect, and in order to show their loyalty and unity to the Heavenly Master, they swore an oath with their blood on the three famous Taoist mountains of Longhu Mountain, Maoshan Mountain, and Gesoshan Mountain, and agreed to use these 50 characters as their characters. Therefore, this character school is called the Three Mountains Dripping Blood School.

Another theory is that this character school was jointly formulated by Zhang Hongren, the fifty-third generation celestial master in the early Qing Dynasty, and Shi Daoyuan, the abbot of Suzhou Xuanmiaoguan. Shi Daoyuan was a famous high Taoist in the early Qing Dynasty, he once practiced in Qionglong Mountain, and was appreciated and awarded by Zhang Hongren. In order to promote the exchange and cooperation of the various sects of the Zhengyi Sect, the two of them added the last ten characters to the original forty characters, and wrote this character school into the "Temple of Heaven Yuge", an important classic of conferring rituals. Since then, this character school has become the standard for Zhengyi to teach his disciples to choose Taoist names.

The Three Mountains of the Zhengyi Sect

Either way, it shows the important position and role of the Three Mountains Blood Spill Sect in the history of the Orthodox Church. It not only reflects the belief and adherence of the disciples of the Zhengyi Sect to the Tao of the Heavenly Master and the concept of the Zhengyi, but also reflects the mutual respect and cooperation between the various sects of the Zhengyi Sect. The Three Mountains Dripping Blood Sect is a symbol and bond for the Zhengyi Sect to inherit the lineage, promote the Dao, unite the Dao, and benefit all sentient beings.
