Joseon Gyeongjong (Korean: 조선 경종/Dynasty) Jeongjong Joseon Gyeongjong; 20 November 1688 (October 28) – 11 October 1724 (August 25) ), courtesy name Li Yun (Korean: 이윤 /Lee Yun Yi Yun), was the 20th monarch of the Joseon Dynasty, reigning from 1720 to 1724. Jingzong ,Dōjō Gyeongjong, courtesy name Dewen Wing Wu Chunren (Emperor Gonggong of the Qing Dynasty), was buried in The Tomb of Yi in Yangju (Korean: 의릉 (조선 경종)). His birth mother was Zhang Xi,a concubine who was in power during the reign of Emperor Suzong.

Originally, after the death of Concubine Zhang, the ministers were worried that After Jingzong ascended the throne, he would retaliate for his mother's death like Yanshan Jun, so they once requested to change the son of the family, but at that time, on the one hand, Yan Rongjun and Yanling Jun were still young, on the one hand, Suzong had always loved this eldest son very much, and Jingzong was pure and kind, so he did not abolish it.

Jingzong reigned for only four years, and died of illness in Huancuiting on August 25, 1724, at the age of Chinese New Year's Eve 6.

Jeongjong of Joseon (1688-1724), courtesy name Li Yun, was the 20th monarch of the Joseon Dynasty, reigned from 1720 to 1724, the eldest son of Emperor Suzong of Joseon, and his biological mother was the famous and powerful concubine of Jang Hee in Korean history. Emperor Suzong was born on October 28, 1688 in The 14th year of Emperor Suzong's reign in The Temple of Zen-do, Changgyeonggung. Three generations of Emperor Suzong of Joseon, his Queen Renjing and Queen Inhyun have also been without heirs, so when they learned that Li Yun was born, he was overjoyed, and he had long intended to make him the heir to the throne, and once said to the ministers in a stern tone on this matter: "The country is undecided, the people's hearts are calm, and today's plan is not up to him." If you hesitate to wait and see, those who dare to disagree, the officials retreat! In the sixteenth year of Emperor Suzong (1690), the three-year-old Li Yun was crowned as the Prince of The Prince of Suzong, and in the twenty-first year of Emperor Suzong (1695), he entered the school and performed the crown ceremony.

Li Yun had a small storm in the process of the canonization of the world. In the winter of the twenty-second year of Emperor Suzong (1696), The Joseon Dynasty sent envoys to ask the suzerainty of the Qing Dynasty to appoint Li Yun as his son. The Qing Dynasty's Ceremonial Department continued to use the "Great Qing Huidian" that "the king and the princess had no concubines in their fifties, and the eldest son of the first prince was the prince of the king", and suzong considered it "extremely unreasonable and unfounded", dismissed Xu Wenzhong and the other three envoys, and sent envoys again. North Korea asked for another title on the grounds that "foreign countries are different from internal services, and although the sons of the world are born, they will report to the Qing Dynasty after their birth, and tell the Zongmiao Temple, and it will be decided that the eldest son of the concubine, raised by the princess, is not different from the concubine, and the subjects have long been expected". In the twenty-third year of Emperor Suzong's reign (1697), the Kangxi Emperor was invited by The Joseon Dynasty to appoint Li Yun as the Prince of Wang.

As soon as Li Yun was born, he was involved in the whirlpool of court struggle between Queen Renxian of the Min clan and the Concubine Zhang, but his feelings for Queen Renxian seemed to be greater than that of his birth mother, Zhang Xi Concubine, and history recorded that he was "the queen of Renxian, and the kindness and filial piety were not separated". Queen Renxian also said privately: "The son of the world is filial by nature, and he does not leave the side day and night, and he loves and respects his relatives (referring to Zhang Xi's concubines), and his private relatives in the province will also tell him, and he will not dare to be self-righteous... Hearing his private relatives or whispering to them, although he does not know what he is saying, Shizi should not be silent, so that he is beaten and wept, which is particularly cute and reserved. In the twenty-seventh year of Emperor Suzong(1701), Li Yun's biological mother, Xi Concubine Zhang, was given death. The ministers feared that Li Yun would retaliate for his mother's death like Yan Shanjun after he ascended the throne, and the Westerners even requested for the establishment of a son at one point, at that time, Yan Rongjun (later Yingzu) and Yanling Jun were still young, but the most important thing was that Li Yun was pure in heart and acted benevolently, so Emperor Suzong rejected this. However, the death of Zhang Xi concubine had a great impact on Li Yun, and soon after that he became in a trance and committed various strange acts. In the forty-third year of Emperor Suzong's reign (1717), Emperor Suzong suffered from an eye disease and was tired of government, and Li Yun, as the son of Wang Shizi, was appointed as the acting regent. On June 8, 1720, in the forty-sixth year of Emperor Suzong's reign, Emperor Suzong of Joseon, Li Yun, was located at the Chongjong Gate of Gyeongdeokgung Palace (present-day Gyeongghee Palace), which was dedicated to Gyeongjong.

When Emperor Jingzong was founded, Zhao Chong, a Confucian student who did not obtain an official position, met with a request to re-establish Zhang Xi's concubine, and as a result, he was sent to Sanshui County, Hamgyong Province. Jingzong was weak since childhood, and married two wives successively (namely Duanyi Queen Shen and Queen Xuanyi Yu), but remained childless (it is rumored that his mother Zhang Xi's concubine vigorously grasped her lower body when she was dying, resulting in her infernopacity, and it is also said that Emperor Suzong often reprimanded Jingzong for causing him to lose his fertility due to fright), and had to order his younger brother Yan Rongjun Li Fu to be crowned as the heir to the throne in August of the first year of Jingzong (1721). Jingzong reigned for only 4 years, and although there was benevolent government, the dprk continued the party struggle between the old and young commentators that had intensified at the end of his father Suzong's reign, of which the "Xin Nongshi Disaster" was a representative example.

In the second year of Jingzong (1722), because of the problem of Li Chu, there was a disaster of Xin Nongshi, because Jingzong had a chronic disease and had no heirs, in the first year of Jingzong (1721), a minister shangshu asked Li Yanlujun (later Joseon Yingzu) to be the crown prince, because the party struggle at that time was extremely fierce, the issue of li chu was also divided into two factions, the old theory school praised the establishment of Yan Rongjun as Wang Shidi's brother, and the Shao Theory faction advocated waiting for Jingzong to give birth to a son and then establish a crown prince. In the end, Emperor Jingzong adopted the old theory school proposal and made Yan Rongjun a disciple of Wang Shidi. Two days after Emperor Jingzong's decree, Liu Fenghui strongly opposed Li Yanjun as crown prince, believing that according to common sense, the princess could still have children, and could not be so hasty. Subsequently, another minister asked Wang Shidi to listen to the government on his behalf, the old theorists approved, and the young commentators vigorously opposed them, and finally the old theorists failed, and many people were deposed, and the lesser theorists came to power. Later, there was an conspiracy between Jin Yijing and the eunuch Park Shangjian to kill Wang Shidi, and the matter was revealed, so Shao Yan instructed Xiao Hulong to falsely accuse the four ministers of the old theory faction Jin Changji, Li Yiming, Li Jianming, and Zhao Taecai in March of the second year of Jingzong (1722), causing a great prison, Jin Changji, Li Yiming, Li Jianming, and Zhao Taecai to be killed for the crime of rebellion, bai wang, Zheng Linzhong and dozens of other people were matched, and this time it also involved the poisoning and murder of Jingzong's concubine Li Shi (Xiaozhang Shizi's biological mother) in the first year of Jingzong's first year, which involved hundreds of people. Since this incident occurred in the first year of Jingzong (1721, the year of Xin Ugly) and the second year of Jingzong (1722, the year of Nongyin), the history is called "Xin Nongshi Disaster" (it is also called "Xin Ugly Change" and "Nongyin Prison Incident").

On August 25, the fourth year of Jingzong (1724), Jingzong died of illness at the huancui pavilion of Changqing Palace at the age of Chinese New Year's Eve 7. The temple name Jingzong (경종), courtesy name Dewen Yiwu Chunren Xuanxiao (Qing Dynasty bestows "恪恭"), was buried in Yiling, Yangzhou. It was sometimes rumored that Jingzong was killed by his younger brother Li Fu.

Regarding the cause of Gyeongjong's death, according to the Records of The True Record of Injo, on the sixteenth day of the first month of the first year of the Joseon Dynasty (1725), on the way back from the tomb of Jeongjong, a man named Li Tianhai publicly accused Yingzu of killing jun, saying that Injo had poisoned Gyeongjong with poisonous sauce crabs through the kitchen in the harem of King Inwon. Under some investigation, it was found that the rumor originated from Shen Weixian, the younger brother of Queen Duanyi of the Shen clan. It turned out that when Jingzong died of illness, Shen Weixian was around, and he claimed that Jingzong had vomited violently (even the bile was spit out) before his death, and died in a strange way, suspected to be poisoned to death. This theory was widely circulated, and it became a slogan for the rebellion against the party many times during Yingzu's reign (for this reason, Yingzu ordered someone to write the "Illustrative Zhaojian" in 1775, print two editions of Chinese proverbs, distribute them to the public, clarify the poisoning incident, and prove his innocence).

It is also said that because Jingzong violated the medical doctrine of food phase at that time, he was unwell by eating crab sauce and persimmon at the same time. Under the objection of the physician, Yan Rongjun still offered Ginseng Tea to Jingzong, which worsened Jingzong's condition and died. It is also said that the old theorists succeeded in abolishing Yan Rongjun in order to avoid the shaosan faction, so it was stronger to start first.

However, the assassination theory was completely denied by The Korean Young-zu, and now it seems that the credibility of this theory is also questionable, after all, Jingzong's body has indeed been very weak, and at that time, It was already Yan Rongjun handling state affairs on his behalf, it seems that there is no need to assassinate his brother, moreover, Jingzong is childless, Yanlingjun died early, at that time, only a younger brother of Yanlujun was alive, and after the death of Jingzong, the throne could only be passed to Yanlujun, and what reason did Yanlujun have to assassinate his brother? Moreover, according to the records, Jingzong and the Yingzu brothers had a deep affection, and after the death of Jingzong, Yingzu could be said to be grief-stricken. Jingzong was quite young at the time of his death, only 36 years old. His mausoleum is located in The Yi Tomb in Seokk-dong-dong, Jobuk-gu, Seoul, today' special city.
