Counter-Strike 2 was released on September 27. The game is a highly anticipated one, especially for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive fans. The game is based on Valve's latest Source 2 engine and includes many graphics and gameplay enhancements.
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive has been the most popular gamer game on Steam, reaching 1.8 million in May 2023. When Counter-Strike 2 (as the former's successor) is announced, it is also expected to reach the top of the leaderboard.
The game meets these expectations, and it is at the top of the list of most frequently played games on Steam in terms of its current player base.
From the current Steam leaderboard, Counter-Strike 2's peak player count (at the time of the snapshot) is 1.13 million, almost double that of second-place Dota 2.
Valve's latest tactical first-person shooter has a huge player base on Steam. Prior to the full release, some players were invited to participate in a limited beta version of the game. Since leaks and gameplay footage reached players, the hype around the game has increased.
The game also surpasses games such as GTA 5, PUBG, and Apex Legends. It did achieve the success Valve had hoped for. Overall, it's also a great game, and most people might think it's a step up from CS: GO.
