The United States is heavily indebted, with the total U.S. debt exceeding $33 trillion. Now facing the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, the United States is even more tired. In addition, the Palestinian-Israeli conflict is different from the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, some Western people sympathize with Palestine and oppose Israel's occupation of Palestinian territory, and demonstrations have broken out in many Western countries. Faced with such a bad internal and external situation, US President Biden does not want the Palestinian-Israeli situation to escalate. Biden also issued a rare warning that if Israel occupies Gaza, it will make a big mistake.
However, the Israeli side ignored Biden's warning, and Israeli tank clusters continued to accumulate on the Gaza border. Israeli army commanders, assisted by the Air Force, flew over the Gaza Strip and familiarized themselves with the Gaza Strip from a bird's eye view. These are indications that Israeli ground groups are ready to break into Gaza.
Why, in the face of pressure from the United States and the international community, is Israel determined to conduct ground operations in Gaza? Israel, a country with little strategic depth, suffered heavy losses from Hamas attacks. In order to avoid a repeat of the tragedy, Israel must redouble its response, and Hamas will even be completely cleared.
Objectively speaking, more than 2 million people in the Gaza Strip stand with Hamas, and if a Hamas militant is killed, countless Hamas militants will come forward, and Israel cannot clean up, unless Israel directly slaughters the city.
With the international community's eyes now focused on Gaza, Israel cannot risk the world's condemnation of the city. Israel is taking measures to minimize civilian casualties, such as the expulsion of Palestinians to the south in lieu of a massacre.
In addition, Israel and the United States put pressure on the PLO to cut off from Hamas. Israeli pressure has had an effect, and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas recently said that the PLO is the only legitimate representative of the Palestinian people, not other organizations. All Israel is doing is preparing for a ground operation, and when all obstacles are removed, the Israeli army will officially launch a ground operation, and Hamas is doomed this time.
Over the past 20 years, Hamas has built a vast network of tunnels underground in Gaza, and its presence is the biggest obstacle to Israeli operations. Although the Israeli Air Force can carry ground-penetrating missiles to strike, because some tunnels are very deep, ground-penetrating projectiles cannot be completely destroyed. Hamas can rely on tunnels to transport rockets and other materials, and has the ability to fight the Israeli army for a long time. Hamas has the secret support of Iran behind it, as long as Iran has the means to continue to provide ammunition and other supplies, Hamas can fight for a long time, and the Israeli army will fall into brutal street fighting.
