In early August, Putuo police discovered that residents in the prefecture had bought a number of counterfeit luxury brand jewelry at an online store at prices ranging from 10 to 20 percent of the original price. Starting from an online store that sold counterfeit brand jewelry, combined with visiting and investigating, the police soon discovered a gang specializing in counterfeit luxury brand jewelry hidden in a shop in a jewelry monopoly building in another province and city.
Further investigation by following the line, the police locked up Liu Mouqun, Huang Mouyan and his wife, the actual controllers of the counterfeiting gang, as well as the main members of the counterfeiting gang, Peng Moutian, Peng Mouduan, Zhong Mou, Huang Mouhong and Liu Moupeng.
In late August, after careful investigation in the early stage, an arrest team composed of the Economic Investigation Detachment of the Putuo Public Security Subbureau and the Wanli Police Station went to other provinces and cities to carry out centralized net collection operations. With the strong cooperation of the local public security organs, Liu Mouqun, Huang Mouyanfu and other seven people were arrested in the jewelry store and residence operated by Liu Mouqun. At the same time, the police seized a large number of counterfeit and well-known luxury brand jewelry in the warehouses of shops.
After arriving at the case, the criminal suspect Liu Mouqun and seven others confessed to the criminal facts of their participation in the sale of goods with counterfeit registered trademarks. It turned out that Liu had been engaged in the jewelry business in the building for many years and had also registered his own company. At the end of 2021, he found that the sale of high-quality luxury brand jewelry on the market was more profitable and in demand. After a period of observation, Liu Mouqun also began to purchase some high-imitation jewelry from familiar stores, and sold them to old customers after increasing the price, and the sales effect was surprisingly good.
Therefore, since June 2022, Liu Mouqun contacted the OEM factory to customize all kinds of high-imitation luxury brand jewelry, and used his physical store as a disguise, arranged his wife Huang Mouyan to be responsible for customer service, and professionally sold fake goods online. For a luxury brand jewelry worth tens of thousands of yuan, Liu Mouqun only sells 10% to 15% of the real price, and the cost only ranges from tens to hundreds of yuan.
After that, Liu Mouqun also brought his classmate Peng Mouduan, fellow countrymen Peng Moutian and Liu Moupeng, and relatives Zhong Mouhong and Huang Mouhong into the team to be responsible for sales and delivery, and gave commissions according to their respective sales conditions. According to preliminary statistics, Liu's online store has sold nearly 10 million counterfeit luxury brand jewelry in the past six months.
On September 25, with the approval of the procuratorate, the criminal suspect Liu Mouqun was arrested by the Putuo police on suspicion of selling goods with counterfeit registered trademarks. The remaining six criminal suspects were also taken criminal compulsory measures by the Putuo police in accordance with the law for the crime of selling goods with counterfeit registered trademarks, and the cases are still under further investigation. As for the source of counterfeit luxury brand jewelry, the Shanghai police are also carrying out further traceability investigation.
Police tips: When shopping online, the general public should choose formal channels and do not buy so-called "OEM factory" goods that are significantly lower than the market price, so as not to be deceived. Once you buy or find that a merchant sells counterfeit registered trademarks, please report it to the public security organ or market supervision department immediately.
