On September 28, the State Administration of Cultural Heritage held a regular press conference in the third quarter, informing about the important progress of four major "archaeological China" projects, including the site of Jilin and Longdadong, the site of Maanqiao Mountain in Chaoyang, Liaoning, the site of Zoucheng Zhuguo Ancient City in Shandong, and the site of Jinzhongdu in Beijing. Guan Qiang, deputy director of the State Administration of Cultural Heritage, presided over the meeting.

The launch focused on important archaeological discoveries from the Paleolithic to the Song and Golden periods.

The site of Helongdadong dates from 5-15,000 years ago, which is the earliest and most complete Paleolithic site in Changbai Mountain area of China, and is also one of the earliest sites in Northeast Asia to use obsidian to make stone tools, which clearly shows the important process of the transformation of the stone tool industry in this region from stone chip stone tools to "stone leaf-fine stone leaf" technology, and enriches the relevant understanding of the evolutionary diffusion, cultural development and livelihood mode of modern people in Northeast Asia.

The Maanqiao Mountain site dates from about 7700-5500 years ago, and the main body is a medium-sized settlement of the early Hongshan culture, which has both residential and sacrificial functions, which is of great value for the study of the settlement form, social hierarchy and spiritual belief of the Hongshan culture.

The ruins of the ancient city of the state of Zhao were newly discovered in the capital of the state of Zhao in the Eastern Zhou Dynasty and the county seat of Zou County in the Qin and Han Dynasties, and a large building foundation site was newly discovered that was built in the Warring States and used until the Qin and Han periods, and 821 pieces of sealing mud and 243 pieces of pottery were unearthed, revealing the change of the city's appearance in the process of the transformation of the capital of the Eastern Zhou kingdoms to the county of Qin and Han, and the precious epitome of the historical process from the juxtaposition of princes to the great unified dynasty.

The large-scale building foundation site found at the Jinzhongdu site, after two phases of construction, the axis and orientation are consistent, combined with the literature, it may be the site of the Dajue Temple, a royal temple of the Jin Dynasty, and cultural relics such as jade books, official seals, and building components were unearthed, which is an important material for the study of the urban planning, architectural layout and royal etiquette system of Jinzhongdu, and is a true portrayal of the history of multi-ethnic exchanges and blending in ancient China.

The four archaeological discoveries and research results reported this time are powerful witnesses of the outstanding continuity, innovation, unity, inclusiveness and peace of Chinese civilization. Under the framework of the "Archaeological China" major project, the State Administration of Cultural Heritage will continue to promote archaeological research on the mainland's million-year-old human history, 10,000-year-old cultural history, and 5,000-year-old civilization history, so as to inject profound and lasting cultural strength into strengthening cultural self-confidence and building the modern civilization of the Chinese nation.

The participating experts commented on four important results. Responsible comrades of the relevant departments of the State Administration of Cultural Heritage attended the meeting.

According to the geographical location, stratigraphic relationship, building regulations and analysis of excavated relics, the early building site era is about the Liao to Jin Dading period, and the late building site era is about Jin Dading to the early Jin Dynasty. According to the "Yuan Yi Tongzhi" and "Zhanran Jushi Collection" and other documents, it is preliminarily inferred that the early architecture is related to the Yijing Jingshe built in the Liao Dynasty, and the late architecture is related to the Dajue Temple in the Dading period, which is a royal temple of the Jin Dynasty and a large-scale official-style building group discovered for the first time in the archaeology of Jinzhongdu.

Approved by the State Administration of Cultural Heritage, archaeological excavations were carried out by the Beijing Institute of Archaeology, and the building group is a four-sided enclosed courtyard, and the late building group consists of two halls in the north and south and symmetrical corridors from east to west located on the same axis, with a complete structure and clear layout, covering an area of about 2,500 square meters.
