Today, I am four years old, and I will tell you about the origin of the Mid-Autumn Festival. A long, long time ago, there was a big stone in the sky, its land became arid and water-scarce, and people lived hard. Later, a gentleman named Houyi appeared, and he shot down nine suns in one go, bringing the earth back to life. Houyi also married a beautiful and kind wife named Chang'e. They live happily.
One day, Houyi accepted an apprentice named Peng Meng. Peng Meng covets the elixir and wants to replace Houyi as an immortal. Hou Yi was unwilling, so he gave the elixir to Chang'e for safekeeping. But Peng Meng stole the elixir and wanted to become a god.
On August 15, Houyi took his family out to dinner. Chang'e claimed that Houyi was not at home and forced her to hand over the elixir. Chang'e stole the elixir, ate it, turned into a god, and flew to the moon. Hou Yi learned about this after returning home, and was very sad. He took out Chang'e's favorite water, hoping that one day she would return to him.
Since then, people have eaten mooncakes and admired the moon on August 15 to remember Houyi and Chang'e. This has also become a traditional custom of the Mid-Autumn Festival.
