Mass food poisoning incidents in restaurants in Japan since August 2023. As of September 4, 2023, there have been multiple food poisoning incidents in Ishikawa, Mie, Wakayama, Shimane, Okinawa and other prefectures in Japan, and a series of incidents have led to more than 150 people becoming unwell and one death.
On September 19, 2023, about 100 people in more than 40 regions across Japan developed food poisoning symptoms such as diarrhea and vomiting due to eating bento boxes from Yoshidaya in Hachinohe City.

From August 11 to 12, 2023, after heavy rain in the local area, the "Omixabi Sightseeing Flowing Water" Hotel in Tsuhata-cho, Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan, did not conduct an annual water quality test and opened its doors directly. As a result, 93 people suffered food poisoning, developing symptoms such as diarrhoea, fever and abdominal pain, some of whom were hospitalized. Before the store closed, about 500 people who had eaten at the restaurant reported symptoms.
Event disposition
On August 17, 2023, the Ishikawa Prefectural Central Public Health Center imposed a three-day suspension penalty on the store, and Campylobacter was detected in tap water used to make running noodles, a Japanese noodle dish.

On August 20, 2023, a man in his 80s in Shirahama Town, Tanabe City, Wakayama Prefecture, ate a bento box prepared by a restaurant called Hamano (#击乃) at a local "Sekei City" pour event, and died in hospital on August 26 two days later due to symptoms such as fever and diarrhea.
