Anthony Frederick Augustus Sandys (born Antonio Frederick Augustus Sandys; May 1, 1829 – June 25, 1904), commonly known as Frederick Sandys, was an English painter, illustrator, and cartographer with links to the Pre-Raphaelites. He also had links with the Norwich School of Painters.
He died in Kensington, west London, in 1904.

The Shadow of Love is an 1867 painting by Pre-Raphaelite artist Frederick Sandes. Its model is actress Mary Emma Jones, Sandy's common-law wife. The figures are richly decorated and bite into the flowers of blue violets, symbols of love and devotion in Victorian floral art.
